Wow, they are getting really close! Good thing I am getting back on the horse ;)
Testing out some light 5870 benching tonight. That'll amount to something I'm sure... |
well i sould be getting a refund so 100 bucks on some boint cards if i find any 4 sale
and face thanks for beating my 06 score on the 8800gt lol i tryed to get 20k but just got 19.4k :( i hate messing with drivers in W7 i can run 850 core but just 837 in xp but i still got mine hooked up to he ss so ill be trying for some more boints  |
;) haha! I was wondering if you noticed that... I gotta get back on that card too. That was an old screeny I had for a couple months.
Well, looks like tonight is an os install night... I couldn't break 40k on '05 with these installs and a 5870 if my life depended on it... |
u even suck more lol
but damn i could of got some boints with those 88gts i didnt want any thing with b stock after that lol they dies with out trying first for me haha |
Looks like we will have some 8800GT contest here. I'll test mine tomorrow morning. I hope i can get 1K out of it! ;)

Just grabbed the only decent ddr3 s775 board on the egg...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128433 If this board is a good as I hope it is, then my 775 pwning begins this weekend. Gotta knock the rust off and start reading through old threads to get some fsb love flowing through me again. |
will have a board tomorrow...i don't think its worth points though...lol

Also I did some 8800GT testing today and I can pass AM3 at 1000/1000 1.5V @ 5C. The memory sucks on this card and 1000 is pretty much the end of it but the core rocks for sure. I'll freeze this thing and give it a little more V! :D |
The Qimonda ram on those cards hates volts most of the time. Sometimes you need to actually lower the volts below stock for mhz gains. The plus side is that the 8800gt gpu performance scales really nice with small bumps in RAM freq. If done right, you should be maxing out the shaders and ram out around the some time. A 1ghz+ 8800gt is pure win-meat.

hey guys does yout 88gt volts go up during load like mine ? its goes up like almost .1v lol most cards i seen go up like .05v during load
but i was thinking putting the rad in ice water well that help ? i never done it before lol |
anything colder than the air/water at ambient temps helps.
I have modded and benched a few 8800gt's, and each of them acted differently. Some jumped .05, others jumped almost .1, and one barely jumped at all. The one that didn't bump up under load clocked the worst, and was sold promptly. A .1 jump shouldn't hurt you too bad until it switches back to 2d idle... that can really throw shit into unstable land. Use Riva to lock the card into 3d perf. mode. |
cuz im at 1.5v or so and it jumps to 1.6v lol
but think im going to need to go to the hardware store to get some tubing so i dong have it all bunched up next to the bench table cuz all my tygon has been used and been cut from other loops i done in the past |
I'm a little fuzzy on the exact number, but iirc these stop scaling a little after 1.4v on the core with rare exception. I remember clearly though that after I reached a certain "threshold" I was peaking, and any push in volts past that point really hampered my scores...
Most definitely not a "blast and win" chip... gotta find the sweet spot. Might want to try this: I got that last score by adjusting the vr (VERY carefully) during the bench to control the voltage swing. I was only on cold air, so when I was at my best voltage for max air clocks the load jump would kill the bench, or if set to hit the peak w/ the load jump My scores would drop too... But, by setting the vr to the "best" voltages, and then tuning (once again VERY carefully) during the bench, I was able to control the swing. It takes a little patience, but pays off when you hit it just right... I have no clue how many times I ran that bench over and over to get that score... should have spent that kind of time on the rest of my gpu's... |
wut i found out when you hit a wall on air the cooler you got the room/gpu the more you could get th core to oc at same volts but i think hats ith any gpu XD
but this i wut im thinking getting a big big cooking pot i already have put the pad in the middle fill it with water let it freeze and run that 50/50 antifreeze cu i was goin to use a bag of ice but its going to melt anyways also looks like i might also be getting a 4870 :D |
awesome work dom!!!
thats alot of hwbot pointage |
so is my idea on the loop a good one ? would lik some feed back ;) im going crazy alwas talking to myself lmao wife always looks at me like WTF
oh yeah forgot i also got and ice chest and those igloo jugs but i dont they would fit in the ice box to freeze cuz its not a big ice box but i need to get he gpu colder |
whats the temps of your tap water?
|
room temp and im just running distilled with pt nuke
but the ss warms up the room after a while so looking to get he most on water cooling on the gpu |
tap water...from the sink...:D i get 10c water from mine...
|
oh lmao idk i never checked its already in the high 90F's here and like 70-80F's at night and plus its not close to a sink
so the rad in ice should work good ? |
rad and ice..yep...get an ice box..the cold will stay there longer..
|
what brand and pcb color is your 8800gt face ?
im gettin 9800gt and 8600gt saturday :D and does the asus dark night 4870 let you add volts with a bios flash anyone know going to get it for $85 |
I have a few... all green pcb, all evga.. the best 8800gt by far has to be the akimbo.:thumbsup:
When comparing them side by side, the akimbo has better pwm hardware, or at least more of it. the sercret to success.. more stuff on the pcb.. :Dizzy: The 4870's should all be software tunable w/ volts.. ati tray tools should let you set the volts to whatever you want. ;) |

Should work for the 4870's as well. |

Finally have the oppertunity to bench
After messing with this 960 for two weeks I have come to the conclusion it is a total POS But have decided to just roll with it at crap clocks ..... :scared: running the 7950X2 this morning. If I get done I will move onto the 9800GX2 this after noon ... here is my best 01 result  |
She a voltage pig or something witchy?
|
yea you ain't kidding ....
used to get 5.1 with this voltage with my B batch 920 ..... this thing just sucks .... if it dies it dies .... |
Don't think it will die but it might kick some ass on Ln2. Lemme know if you wanna chip swap later 3580 (good on voltage).
|
will do ..........
