oh6, whats the specs on the phase machine? SS-Cascade-temps-maker? :D

Deanzo 07-12-2009 01:51 PM

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you are hitting ocp/ovp as well, I get the same thing myself.
But have also found on some cards, you can get the same kind of looking screen with the mem to cold.

I almost never run them under -60 or soo, but have done -120, but that just makes other issues.

The Teks are a pice of art, if you are using a 5.0, wait till you try the older 3.0, it's even better at holding a load.

Oh man, 1152 on air, that sucks, never had one that bad before.

Me too. I spent the last 13 hours trying to squeeze out one decent run out of a GX2, but all I managed was a 92.5k, and on that there's no screen. I couldn't even get 960MHz 6-5-5-15 working for some odd reason, nothing worked like it did once.

not a spot of vaseline on the board or the GPU...i hate that shyt. kneaded rubber eraser all around. you can see in the one photo that i use eraser on the board, then once i mount the card, i simply connect the board's eraser to the cards...all around the slot. completely air tight, completely sealed, and never get condensation anywhere except on the out side of the eraser. which is why i put shop towels around everything, then the frost just forms on the towels and not even on the eraser.

here is a shot of the front of the card without the towels...

http://3oh6photos.com/forum_post/oca/09_07/_MG_3044.jpg

and a shot of the back without towels...

http://3oh6photos.com/forum_post/oca/09_07/_MG_3045.jpg

i will basically stick this back in the slot, re form the complete seal of eraser around the PCI-E socket, then wrap the setup in a shop towel or two like in the previous photos and it is ready to go. 6 hours as cold as -140C last night an is easy as pie to remove (just 'rip' it out of the socket), and just as easy to re-insulate after drying off.

old Chilly1 SS tuned for E6600 :)
never goes below -40C on the evap with an i7 and usually around -30C ~ -35C for all the work in the 01 challenge. definitely needs to be 'upgraded' for i7 but it does it's job of keep the CPU cold so i can run high uncore for memory testing.

cool, will keep that in mind for moving up memory clocks, definitely no issues at 1152 with the pot at -120C ~ -140C though, so hopefully that is a good thing. maybe they just clock like crap at ambient but will be a bit better with some cold...fingers crossed.

dinos22 07-12-2009 02:19 PM

you are playing with fire
you should at least use vaseline on the gold contacts and the slot

skarface 07-12-2009 03:39 PM

Well good luck everyone not long to go!! Maybe when chuck isnt soo busy ill start playin with u guys.

Deux 07-12-2009 04:12 PM

Thanks for posting the insulation pictures  I had been considering doing something similar in regards to just using eraser to seal the slot to the card instead of grease, glad to see it's working for you.

It's been fun watching the scores come in so far and I can only assume it'll get even better the closer we get to the deadline.

Deanzo 07-12-2009 07:14 PM

Nice run Jody :clapping:

Man, now I want to try.

punx223 07-12-2009 07:18 PM

thanks for the info jody... taht will help greatly as so many people push for using vaseline (which i HATE) so im gonna give taht a try once i can get GPU pots

just keep in mind everyone has to deal with different humidity levels. i have been benching like that for well over a year now with no ill effects...but i also bench in a small room with A/C cranking. still humid but the A/C helps a lot.

haha, thanks boss. tonight wasn't going so well, and i thought i might be done with what i got last night. i thought you jinxed me though because i couldn't run memory at 1152...damn you with your knowledge. before i was aware of it, i wasn't running into that problem :D

then i installed new drivers and back to normal...not sure what that means.

like Dino said and i mention up top, different environments dictate different insulation necessities.

here are a couple more photos after shutting down tonight, plenty of snow was made again, two days in a row :)

Deanzo 07-12-2009 10:41 PM

Yes, I'm having a go.

But you have me mate, can't run the uncore I need with dice with this cpu.

-60 = 4800 max

Card runs fine at 1022/2046/1252 (1006/2016/1252 for N, DH and CH)

crustytheclown 07-12-2009 10:50 PM

3oh6 you nailed single card.I've always thought that i7+nvidia is winning combination!!!
For my Gx2 run i used 1.38v (higher not a single Mhz over ) with scc evga bios A/C in the room and A/C straight at the card.I i didn't bother to rerun nature cause 3 days and that was my very best!!!

3oh6 07-12-2009 10:54 PM

well, my best is posted...i wanted 92K so bad but Nature just wasn't co-operating. i am convinced though at a GTX285 with the right clocks to could make it happen. a GTX260 just didn't have the grunt in it...perhaps a Hipro special could get it done. that or more uncore :D

1.38 nice, can you pass on (PM if you want) the OVP mod for it, it's been a long time since I played with one, mybe I should pick one up and have a play with it and the Tek 4

Kal-EL 07-12-2009 11:37 PM

Under a half hour left in contest

crustytheclown 07-12-2009 11:53 PM

Ovp in my card kicked at 1.43v@load. But i can find and send it to you bro!!!
Youngpro SICK!!! score man!!!

Kal-EL 07-12-2009 11:53 PM

Chuchnit 07-13-2009 12:00 AM

No way I could run without grease. I live near the damn ocean, and humidity is a bitch here. Maybe in the winter, but not this time of year. Killer pics Jody.

Vivi 07-13-2009 12:22 AM

DAMN

welldone everyone.

hERES MY EPIC STORY.

i woke up at 8, was very sick.. we drove to the dice place, drove to the mail to get my board, stopped next to someone's garden were i threw up in, (10 POINTS!). Then i got home at 9:30 (comp ends 12 here), was ready to clock at 10, with GPU's on dice and NB on dice.

I could muster 93800 ish at 1070 / 1200 GPU'S, and 4200 (8x525). 2100mem 8-7-7-21.

I never saved my runs cause obv, i just kept pushing for the win due to time limits.

IF this 790i was up to the task of 560 x 7.5 fsb i would have taken crusty for sure :).

Too bad dice was not cold enough.

This is what i got more or less.

CL 1130
CH 309
DL 1329
DH 740
LL 1036 / 1046 cant remember
LH 491
N 1400 or as close

System was pretty stable but looks like i need more tweaking experiance, im not good enough yet!

welldone all

Congrats to our winners. You guys really pushed it hard. I do know one thing. This is the most fun I've had in a while, and I am for sure a better 01 bencher than before.

@ Crio, my hats off to you buddy. When you posted that 896xx, I didn't even bother. I knew you still had a little more CL in you. I really enjoyed the competition. Great work buddy.

@ 30H6, Man oh man did you rock the i7 :D. Sick work with the 260. After playing i7 I really didn't think it had a chance. You proved me wrong for sure. :D

@ you dual gpu guys, suck it!! Just kidding haha. Scores were insane. I don't really have much to say about that. Too bad my boy vivi had to go on a hardware killing spree though. Maybe he coulda took the crown.

Crio I fell alsleep too early to post my best run. The only thing that coulda happened any better was hitting 1121 in CL, but that only happened once so.... Here is my best.

E8400 | RE @ 600fsb 333strap, 5:8 div | Crucial value ram D9JNL 960 7-7-7-18 TRFC @ 60 | BFB 285 OC @ LL, LH, 752/1664/1411, CH, CL, 752/1664/1451, DH, DL 752/1636/1350, N 752/1664/1394

Order: LH, LL, CH, DL, DH, CL, N - D3D for all but CH, DL, CL all test at LOD 5.0

Sadly I'm rockin a sata drive and anything over 118 pcie hurt my scores.

Thanks mate,

And well done to all the winners!

youngpro 07-13-2009 01:53 AM

congratulations to the winner... unfortuntely i couldnt see written anywhere in the thread that submissions had to be done in the other thread?

dinos22 07-13-2009 02:12 AM

surely that wont be an issue with organisers
you've clearly intended to submit it as the format was followed etc and was submitted well before cut off time

Chuchnit 07-13-2009 02:27 AM

youngpro, ygapm

Chuchnit 07-13-2009 02:46 AM

Does nature not scale linearly with cpu mhz? I just did a quick test at 4500mhz for shits and giggles. Nature was still stuck at 1199.

youngpro 07-13-2009 02:58 AM

nature hardly moves at all with cpu mhz... its probably 0.2%~ cpu or something stupid..

you definatly shouldnt use nature as a stability test ;)

Chuchnit 07-13-2009 03:02 AM

Oh I wasn't. I just noticed almost all the test were seeing huge increases except nature. Honestly I never really paid that much attention to 01 till this contest. I was always concerned with 05 & 06.

Jeffro64 07-13-2009 03:25 AM

First of all.... THANKS to Supes and the staff here at OCA for having these contests! You guy's are the greatest!! :D

Big Congrats to the winners... sick, just sick scores guy's!!!! I myself just don't have the knowledge yet to compete on that level but I gave it my best! I did however learn a great deal along the way and THANK YOU to Vivi, Chuchnit, Hellcamino, Punx and maybe a few others that took time to lend a hand to a newb... You guy's ROCK!

Chuchnit 07-13-2009 04:36 AM

hahaha congrats guys! Jody can pick his prize up right off the cnc :D

DrNip 07-13-2009 04:45 AM

HAHA congrats guys. I see Jody swooped in at the last minute to claim his prize. Many of great scores were posted and only at 4.2ghz!!! I can only imagine 5ghz and beyond runs.

Also welcome aboard k|ngp|n!

punx223 07-13-2009 06:22 AM

very good hard work guys.... all i can say is you better lookout on the 32m competition :D

thanks, but i didn't think i7 could win either until i went to the church of uncore. nature still sucks but in a nature limited competition, the i7 still has a fighting chance. stronger GPU would have rocked it even more.

guess i can't claim that much longer :) perhaps a revision is necessary, i'm no good at 3D except 01...because let's be honest, there isn't much 3D about it.

thanks Dr...funny, i was thinking the same thing my first night of real runs so i cranked it up a little with the same basic setup as i was running for the comp. still can't quite keep up with the C2D's but things might be interesting at 5.4GHz, we'll see when i take the F1 out for a test drive.
