Prolly not too bad of an idea. Unless there is a bios fix so they clock on cold and unlock some more bclock I don't see these being too popular on hwbot. 2600k will be the only one worth hw boints. On the other hand, you can buy two 2500k's and bin them for only $100 more than a single 2600k.

where did OCM call the 2500K an i7?

With nothing but time on my hands and waiting for payday to order my chip I've been working on my water cooling loop. The idea was to make something modular though the use of Koolance Quick Disconnects. This would allow me to go from CPU only Loop to CPU + GPU Loop to CPU + GPU @ Sub-Ambient Loop on the fly.
Loop configurations are as follows: CPU Only Loop: Swiftech MCP-355 with EK Rev2 top > Koolance CPU-360 Water Block > Swiftech Triple Rad > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech Triple Rad with integrated Reservoir > back to pump CPU @ GPU Loop: Swiftech MCP-355 with EK Rev2 top > Koolance CPU-360 Water Block > Swiftech Triple Rad > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech MCW-60 Universal GPU Waterblock > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech Triple Rad with integrated Reservoir > back to pump CPU + GPU + Sub-Ambient Loop (3rd Triple Rad @ A/C Outlet): Swiftech MCP-355 with EK Rev2 top > Koolance CPU-360 Water Block > Swiftech Triple Rad > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech MCW-60 Universal GPU Waterblock > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech Triple Rad @ A/C Outlet > Quick Disconnect > Swiftech Triple Rad with integrated Reservoir > back to pump I've tweaked my window A/C unit to run @ a constant bone chilling 2c/35f strictly for benching. Lets hope I can get this chip to like the cold. If not I'll just set room temp to 20c, drop the 3rd triple rad and call it a day. :tg: OCM  |
2c is very noice :)

All I did was pull the themal bulb out of the evaperator coil and placed it a few inches away from a floor lamp light bulb so the system senses a constant load. Takes about 5 min to get down from ambient to 12c and another 30min to get down to 2c. Wonder how long she'll run @ full throttle before I kill the compressor, lol. OCM  |

Nice runs OCM! God you got to love these Sandy Bridges. I hope mine is good. Of course I have yet to see bad results with any SB's yet. I ordered mine from the egg the second they came out but still ended up with a L041B229 when everyone else ended up with a L040XXX.
|
L041 and L040 ....i think they're closely related..
|
How's your super talents running on the P67? Are they able to run at said specs?
