weird usually the rctweakit launches fine with me... reinstall?

Jor-El 05-02-2010 07:43 AM

Run as Admin did the trick!

This is awesome I need to buy a netbook just for these little gadgets!

Jack it all the way up

"Increasing the CPU differential amplitude increases the noise immunity of the processor's reference clocks and indirectly increases the overclockability of the processor. Thus, if you face problems overclocking the processor, try increasing the CPU differential amplitude."

So is this the same as the "CPU Clock Skew" on the classy?

Nope, clock skew is just what it says. You add a delay with the skew. I haven't tried it on the classy, but it worked wonders clocking the Rampage Extreme. Goddamnit I miss that board.

Jor-El 05-03-2010 05:27 AM

Skews made a big difference when I benched E8600+RE.

On the REiii I left all in Auto but we need to fine tune these settings for the 980GT.

Jor-El 05-05-2010 10:50 AM

Anyone else noticed that disabling the 980x cores on BIOS (Active cores: 2) makes the system unstable?

Saw other results on the Classi and this function works fine there.

Splave 05-05-2010 10:56 AM

when I disabled cores I got different cold bug temps, IE there was a cold bug when I disabled cores.

shouldnt be more unstable though

In the REXiii same settings running 3d fine with 6 cores would give me BSOD on Windows load screen just because I used enable 2 cores only. Would like others with the board to check into that.

Hondacity 05-05-2010 11:13 AM

during load...on xp..it requires stability...what is your vcore? drop bclk?

Splave 05-05-2010 11:17 AM

should boot same speed though regardless of core number if anything 2 cores should be easier. sounds like an issue.

The same EXACT thing happened to me with my Rampage Extreme and the E8600. All cores active great, 1 core active thousands of memtest errors just because I disabled a core...

Patch 05-05-2010 05:06 PM

I was unstable disabling cores on the 762. I haven't tried on the RIIIE yet.

I played with skews some on 762 and it never seemed to make much difference. Just the 100-300 range. Got no scaling so stopped trying. Haven't tried on R3E yet, but Bloodrage did much better with 200-300 on both CPU and IOH skew when high baseclocking with i7 920..

on the core i5 -670.....

at first i only used 2 cores....because using 1 core..would bsod....

i patiently tried lower blcks and lower voltages...and then cranking everything up inside windows....using evbot ofcourse :D

2nd -i5-670 6.8ghz single core.....validated

can do super pi @ 6.7ghz but very low efficiency as compared to my golden i5-670...

Was somebody asking for more pron in this thread?

Jor-El 05-07-2010 04:20 PM

Nice one patch I have yet to Ln2 this board!

Did someone say pron? What are your thoughts on the NB fan that comes with it. Al could you pm me your phne#? I will most likely have questions that you could answer.

Jor-El 05-11-2010 05:20 AM

First Ln2 test last night: -100cbb 980x... You will need a torch for this mobo because when it's in cbb mode the volts won't warm up the chip like the Classified (p55).

That Asus Cold Boot Bug button that is next to the 8pin pwr connectors is useless, anyone tried it? It just restarts and gives you same cold boot 'cpu init hang'...

Splave 05-11-2010 05:25 AM

jor I used that button only when the reset button was unresponsive, IE instead of powering down completely

Patch 05-11-2010 05:27 AM

My experience has been the opposite, Jor.

My P55 Classy couldn't keep a chip colder than -120ish (tried 3 chips and re-did the CB mod X3).

R3E so far has gone down to -150 to -160 range on the same chip that my 762 bugged at -115. That "CBB" button isn't a life saver, but it has helped me. If I hit it fast enough it will sometimes boot in situations where I'd normally have to torch it.

I'm cold bugging at -140 my classy 759 was -155 and my cbb is the same as my classy 759 -115. It dosn't clock as well as my Classy does atm. probably cause of my noobness to the board. Still working on it.

So far i'm not liking it. my new 480 showed up today and If i can't get some decent clocks out of this board im gonna hve to go back to the Classy.

Splave 05-14-2010 02:50 AM

can you post up your bios settings duke?

Ok please take it easy on me i'm a Nvidia fanboy nt an Asus man by any means. The highest vcore i can get is 1.80?

Splave 05-14-2010 02:19 PM

digi power to x-mode
extreme OV enabled

to start :)

Jor-El 05-14-2010 02:39 PM

I was benching Vantage today and after a while mobo started to beep (pc speaker).

Is this condensation warning Splave?

GFDuke 05-14-2010 02:48 PM

Thanks I'll change that. I just tried to flash to the sf3d bios and i think something went wrong. Screen went blank in the middle of the flash, my monitor went to standby mode and nothing happened for about 5 min. So i did the stupidist thing and shut i down. I can't take anymore today. I tore it down, I'll hit it in the am. This thing is killing me. I'm wishing i bought a 762 right now. :confused2:

Kal-EL 05-14-2010 03:26 PM

oh damn :(

What's the flash procedure on this board anyways?

Jor-El 05-14-2010 04:28 PM

Duke this board has 2 bios and you can toggle between them on that red button (next to the bios chips). Just go to Bios #2 and reflash Bios #1.

GFDuke 05-15-2010 02:24 AM

I guess i didnt fuk it up. Checked the bios version and its the 0534. So all is well. I'm not as fed up today and things are going better.

Splave 05-15-2010 02:47 AM

duke, sorry I didnt get back to ya last night. My gf is done with her clinical internship and we where ummm partying. Will call ya this afternoon if thats good?

GFDuke 05-15-2010 02:49 AM

Sure man. I've got a 50th birhday party for my brother so i'll be gone at 5 till??? I'm installing Vista 32 right now.

Splave 05-15-2010 03:02 AM

actually maybe I will call you tomorrow, just got notice my board is here and ready to pick up at fedex. I will fiddle with it tonight so I can be more of a help, kinda relearn it a bit if thats cool :)

GFDuke 05-15-2010 03:07 AM

Yea man thats cool. I have a few more OS's i have to do anyway.

Full LLC cause a bit of overvolt for me, 50% seems good. PWR volt control over 8v not necessary on water. Will try some higher bclk stuff and report back.

Nice Al! I'll be getting to it next week so all this stuff in this thread will be very helpful. Got to RMA that dying Classy! :keeporder:
