Don't like the SATA interface, some cards will block them off. I do not see high end GPU's getting any shorter, looks like any cards that exceed 10.25 inches will have an impact this design ..........

GTX580 10.5 inches

GTX 480 10.5 inches

5870 11.1 inches

6970 11 inches

6990 12 inches

590 11 inches

it looks like Dual X79 chips.... which would make sense... basically 2 seperate systems fused on one board.

looks very interesting.

going by rough measurements (ie pci-e slot = 4inches) you can determine there is about 11.5 inches to the ports :) but i agree seems like there should be a better way.

That is possible splig, Are the hold down holes different than standard ATX ? as they are 9.5" from the edge of the board to the center of the hole.

That is what I was basing my comment on. If so than it would only interfere with dual GPU solutions ....

Still silly they would not follow what these days seems to be an industry standard iliminating this conflict using offset SATA ports

Would be cool, AFAIK only the 8 core desktop chips will have dual QPI.

FYI if you do not like the 6 SATA ports, why not use the 4 90degree angle SAS/SATA ports at the far corner of the board?

I see people complaining about cable managment wit hthe "normal" SATA ports, they are forgetting this is a SERVER sized board and will not fit in any ATX case that exists, only server chassis... in which case the SATA sockets should be fine

Although we will see, hints are these CPUs will not come with air coolers, so not sure what server cases are going to come out with spots for Watercooling :)

if it's desktop cpu's, i will have one lol.

Will have all the SR-* baby's in the house.

Witchdoctor 12-04-2011 11:16 PM

Agree, if it uses regular chips it will kick some multithreaded ass

MaadDaawg 12-05-2011 04:05 AM

I hope it'll take a mix of the X and K processors, can't afford another 3960X

Witchdoctor 12-05-2011 04:34 AM

I can't afford 1 .............. :ohcrap:
