Default Cheap temp probes

I have a cheap red cen tech DVOM that has a temp function. it works very good for phase and dice but i found out this last weekend at buckeyes place that it si sorely lacking in much more extreme cooling.

i tested it next to a UEI dt200 and while my temp probe was reading -87C the UEI was reading -126C just switching the plug over,

So please be mindful the cheaper readers will do good for decent sub ambient cooling, but if your starting to really get your hands into the heavy sub zero overclocking i would recommend getting a much better unit made strictly for reading temps, as it will be far more accurate.

Im sure most of you know this, but for those that do not, let this be warning

UEI and Fluke are the best and most expensive. There are some other cheaper ones that are ok.

Yeah I have the same as you punx and I swear it is 10 degrees off as I never see under -60 with DICE whereas I seen people report up to -70 with DICE on the F1 pot. I could or they could be wrong but it is time for me to upgrade mine. It was a good beginner probe though.

I like that second one ricks. Thanks for the post!

The UEI is probably better in that it uses only two AAA batteries vs six for the other. Both work well but the UEI just seems to be better built. Have heard of one failure of the EXTECH here at NBOC...

actually the uei dt200 is nice because it has 2 inputs and only uses a single 9v

Fluke>UEI>Extech IMO

I've got a DT200 and really like it most of the time, it does seems to chew through batteries though. I'll probably add a used Fluke 52 if I ever need more than 2 inputs.
