Default Breaking Records With SSDs: 16 Intel X25-Es Do 2.2 GB/s

read it ! :

Some months ago, we were informed by A&R Edelman, Samsung’s PR agency in the US, about a YouTube video showing 24 Samsung PB22-J flash SSDs configured in a RAID array using a high-end PC. The guys who produced the video did a great job and reached just beyond 2 GB/s using one Adaptec 5-series controller card and an Areca 1680ix board on an Intel dual-CPU "Skulltrail" system. We felt intrigued by the project and decided to see if we could beat their results.

No time to delve completely into it, but it certainly looks like the toms review was using a 4 times more power raid CPU than the samsung setup

The Areca cards are notorious for limiting SSD performance, I forget the exact numbers but Dominick from OCF has a site in which he reviewed and found the limits of the intel 400MHz and 800MHz controllers, using far less than 24 SSDs.

The Areca card in the samsung review was running a 1200MHZ raid controller, while the Intel review was using 2 dual core 1200MHZ controllers.

Yes I know this was not about a review, just a company wanting top boints (so to speak)

Would be great to compare the intel SLCs to the samsung MLCs head to head though (Although from my limited comprehension, MLCs are basically raided SLCs?)
