Default October what ever

October is starting in a few hrs or days what ever

Been clocking some old school X58 today, was wondering does anyone still remember how to clock those things?
Can't seem to get this 980x over 6GHz with out crashing and my multimeter is broken so can't really tell what the QPI/VTT volt is :(

board is the GA-X58A-OC
btw, the physical overclocking buttons are AMAZING!

Yoyo koko!
For a good gigabite OCING guide you should look at tweaktown forums. I can't link from my damn androide retard phone. Anything you need from gigabyte is there, bios Etc....
Good luck!
PS shouldn't you ask first, then post pictures?

Dude, unfortunately, not all 980X chips will break the 6Ghz barrier :(

I understand, but the thing is it hits 5940MHz REALLY easily! but once it touches the 6GHz line it BSODs :(

I'll go look around in tweaktown
it's been a while since last time i touched the x58s

wtf is x58?

jkjk 980x is such a tough chip because they vary quite a bit. most retails were not that good, I never had a real good one until I bough that A0....If you can get a 990x ES that is pretty much as good as x58 gets.

You might just be stuck at 59ish man, try lower multi see if you can squeak a bit more out I guess. push volts is all you can do...

PS shit is about to get very real, going to dust the old matrix 7970 off and run some proper 3dmark11 XD and vantage.

btw, hey guys, quick question...
I know it's super old but do any of y'all know or remember if D9GMH clocks above 1300 5-5-5 normally? i know D9GKX does it pretty well on average

I know IC doesn't mean much if you have a good stick you have a good stick but i just wanna have some idea what voltage to use and know when to stop so i will not be spending 10hrs on something that's not even gonna move

btw this is the set on the bot. http://hwbot.org/submission/2315664_...dram_671.1_mhz
