Default 2500k vs 2600k

Since these seem to be best for helping 2d scores and 3dmark01 and maybe 05 is there a point to spending more for HT on benchmarks we might not need it for? Big price difference and im poor. lmk if there is something else i dont think they are binned higher...

2600 also has 2MB more cache.

I thought I saw some benchmarks that made a nice improvement because of the cache but I can not find them at the minute.

EDIT: Regardless the 2500K does seem to be the point to purchase for non benching. With the right mods they are clocking the same as the 2600K. pifast alone is going to worth a few points

I hear ya on the poor part as I had to liquidate hardware to afford my newest setup. I went with the 2600k. Mine will be mostly for your everday web cruiser and game player so I could have probably been fine with the 2500k but my inner hardware devil told me to buy the 2600k. I do have plans of doing some benching with it though, its just I don't have the time to do this as I thought I would. Dunno if there is much difference but I wanna say I read something kinda like what Neuromancer was talking about. Think it was over at Xtreme or something.

Here are some #'s on a 2600k with and without HT. I believe the without HT would be the same as a 2500k but with 2 more mb's of cache? So if the difference is that much just between the 2600k with and without HT then I would assume it would at least be this much difference if not more between the 2600k and 2500k.

That's a pretty big difference on wprime and vantage. Wish there was one showing all the Bot point benches.

That is the first time I have ever seen X3 benefit from HT

And trust me. I have seen a lot of X3 results ....................

I do think the 2600k is the winner out of this as it is going to be the best CPU released from Intel for at least a few months maybe which means everybody in the g-ma will own this and submit it to the bot. That means more boints in the end. I think it will be up there with the great boint makers like the 920, e8600, q6600, etc.

Yeah, its looking like the 2600K will be a good bointer and great for 3D01.
