Default pot help

so just picked up the pot..
everything worked great..

i gotta hold it like this every time when i am using it~

this is the board i am using it on.. Gigabyte GA-EX58-Extreme

and the chip is i7 920 SLBEJ // ### 3913B007

with DICE

everything worked great!
here are some numbers =)

this is with the i7 setup

and this is with my Pentium 4 3.0 Northwood chip
this is just with the "pot" with out any DICE in it at all..
well.. i did put some DICE in it, and then took it out. so when it's still cold i sat that on it

but after i am done with it there is what i found out..

you see how the bottom on the pot is tilted.. part of it is on the solid state capacitors and it's really not letting me having the max cooling on the chip..

the white thermal compound .. that is the only thing that's helping with the cooling everytime i have to put stupid amount on it just so it'll be "touching"

and i been trying use all the idea i got and tools i have but nothing seems to be working AT ALL!

here is what i have tried so fair..

sanding it down so it'll have a level difference of about 1/16th of a inch but the base it self is only 1/8th of a inch so that didn't work

then...
uncaped a AMD chip and take the IHS put a lot of thermal compound in between the "pot" and the IHS tried to attach it on there.. and then put it on there yeah it kinda worked but still not great.. it was kinda working but i don't know what i was doing wrong

then i came up with an idea..
what if i just replace the thermal compound between the IHS and the pot with solder and then solder the side is that gonna work well?

you see how it's not in the center...
it's not cooling for shit!

and from what i have seen the height of the IHS from an AMD chip is the perfect size and height for any chip i'll be using.. so any ideas guys.....

kikicoco is this the pot you and your buddy made? What is the size of the copper pipe? It looks like its 2.5" to me. Its too big and you always will have trouble mounting this thing since the caps are always close to the socket. I believe I told you that already in the other thread. Also you have no mounting there at all! How do you bench when you have to use your HANDS to hold the pot all the time? I have made some pots in my life before and I can hook you up with some mounting etc. Also I do not see any mobo insulation there mate? Do you want to kill stuff quick? Get some kneaded eraser on this board!

i was just using this to try it out i had no idea what size was the motherbaord so i just took the size between the holes and said it was 3in =(

that was not my hands thank god! i had my friend holding it for me... (i think that hand is too white to be mine)

i havn't done insulation at all.. cuz i was just using it for a few min that's all i was just running it to test it ou see what need to be changed.. turned out EVERYTHING!

kneaded eraser is on it's way.. i just ordered a few off ebay...

Well at this point this pot is not going to work no matter what. 3" pipe is way too big. Do you have any cash to spend or do we need to help a brother out at this point?
