Question Whatcha Think

I have a Koolance v1 CPU pot. Supposed to be great on DICE but suck on LN2. Since I got my F1 there's really no reason to use it.... BUT.... came up with a thought that I'd like your feedback on.

First, I have a flat 2 x 2 piece of copper to put between my SS and the CPU like Supes suggested awhile back. At the same time, I bought a 1.5 inch round piece of copper that was supposed to be half inch thick - unfortunately it's only 1/2 in think on some parts, and 5/8ths on others. Don't think I can ever lap this piece of shit, BUT...

Back to the Koolance v1. This 1/2 round slug fits perfectly in the first ring in the middle of the Koolance pot. Think I'd have to create some way for the LN2 to flow through or around it, BUT ... wouldn't the added mass and conductivity potentially stabilize the temp variations that have plagued this pot ??

Just curious what you all might think. Will prolly end up selling it, BUT

I think the whole difference is in the base with the drilled out channels and thick side walls Maad. Although I loved the Kooly for DICE, I'd ditch it if you're hittin the juice.

Yeah Rev, my first thought was to sell it, but... could it be mere coincedence that the copper slug fits so well?? : Probably :

I have the aluminum extension for my F1 so it makes for a good DICE pot too

Curious...

If you mean mounting it in the the middle of the "tube" and drilling holes in it to let the LN2 flow through...

Probably will hurt temps despite the added cold mass.

Reason 1) Not close enough to the DIE
Reason 2) You are preventing the hot Nitrogen gas from escaping thereby heating what is sitting in the bottom of the pot.

Just a guess though. Try it out!

If I had the where withall to melt the copper,I'd melt it into the pot then start drilling. But
