Question Deepening Freeze

Just finished a short (2hrs give or take) LN2 bench session. I've noticed this before so I think it's normal, but....

Early on in the sessions I get hit with a CB somewhere in the neighborhood of -130c +/-

Last Bench I just ran on 06 I was running at -150C +/- with no problems at all. One time I think I slipped an poured a little too much and hit -154C. Took the licking and kept right on ticking (lol.. anyone remember that one?)

Just curious if everyone experiences this or if it's pecurliar to something I'm doing ??

My cb changes with the cpus mood. Its like a woman. You have no idea what you did but what ever it was wasn't or was good.

Check differences in mounting pressure between runs and lemme know if its related.

Damn Duke, I think you hit it right on the nail

Supes, I had thought of that as I had backed off some after reading your post about uber tightening Actually, I was tightening down more some after getting to -100 or so until I realized it was probably the insulation under the board giving way and not the TIM getting thinner

But I'm talking about the CB moving downward seemingly as though the more thoroughly the board/cpu were frozen, the more cold they'd take .. all during one bench period w/o adjusting the mounting???

Had to cut short today cause the wife came home, maybe if I bench it 6 hours straight it'll get as cold as Dent's they are the same batch dammit

I'll let ya know though if anything jumps up and slaps me in the face

is something on the mobo that eventually gets frozen and allows no CB? I get the some thing sometimes after a while the cold spreads around the cpu socket on the board??

It bounces around for me too - especially on Classifieds - maybe it's mounting related, but tightening and loosening never seems to make much difference... The R3E seems much more forgiving so far. Rapid shifts in temps are usually the worst. I tend to get to higher clocks and lower temps by going faster and colder in baby steps.

Also, it can usually tolerate lower temps in the middle of CPU intensive benches than it can at idle.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one lol

I pour heavy until I get up to about -80, then I flash the pot with a Mapp Gas torch and pour heavy again until I get around -105 or so. Then I start dribbling the juice in, especially if I've flashed the pot one or two more times. Rapid shifts in temps are a major problem for me too, so I pour slowly, one eye on the temp, the other on the screen ... not very comfortable :
