Yep, for water cooling it should be a nice boost in performance and highest possible clocks on water.

There are other ways to get that off without the lighter.....

1. After cutting, put it in the oven at the temp of the solder's melting point. I would wrap it in foil, then let it set in there for a few minutes and it should pop right off.

2. Uber-lapping. ...sand that bastard all the way down to the die. It may take a few hours, but you won't have to worry about cutting, solder, or making shims for the corners. :cool:

3. ...uh ...pay that guy to do it.

i've missed this thread on XS but i havecome across others and the trouble was that there was hardly any improvements and the temp drop wasnt as drastic as this user "claims"

he didnt really provide any screenshtos of before and after which you'd expect to see in a thread like that

I would only try it in my old pentium 4 630.But 30C under load is just wack.
RMA might be a slight problem for him.taunt
