i have been in this team for some time now, we moved up few places in the hwbot ranking system, not by my help ='(
and i just recently installed a watercooling system on Mr. Jack Ass, works great and all.. but it's not at the place i want to be, it's not cool enough, so i was thinking... should i build my own water cooler? i have always been wanting to build on but never had the $$$$
the cooler i got now is the Coolermaster Aquagate Duo Viva

but i need something for my GOOD for my bridges i am talking about some mad cooling!!!

i was thinking about using the same water block and change out the tubing with the ones i can find in home depot is that a good idea? those Clear PVC Tubing like this

and change out the redactor to something massive!

what do you guys think?


and also i want to get a cpu pot for my new bench, but as you guys know i have no $$$ and i am also thinking about making my own and when i was shopping in home depot i found those Cu Pipe should i get some of that type of things and DIY? i will be using LN2 and/or LHe2 maybe dIce that type of things....
i am going to use that on my Q6600 or s775, the older pentium 4s s478, or even the i7 920 s1366 and sometimes the old Athlon XPs lol that thing is HOT!!!

When your on a tight budget, anything DIY is good. You may be able to find an small old car radiator to suit your purposes.

If you can save the money and go for a cpu pot and some dry ice, you can skip the cost of putting together a water setup. We all know the road you are on is headed for xtreme cooling anyway.

used 655 is plenty. just get rad big enough to hold lots of fans.. .yateloons are GREAT for price/performance. if noise is not an issue get the mediums.. if you dont mind a LOT of noise get the high speed yates. you can always get fan controllers later of course

I HATED black ICE rads after my first experience with WCing.. high fin density, means high pressure high speed fans for most effective cooling.. you know what? I ran my core i7 920 with no fans.. .did not make that much of a difference in normal desktop situations

LOAD delta is what all the whohah is about with WCing.. get a few MCR320 swiftech rads for best price performance. build a secon d"case" just to house the rads. I know guys that have 3 or 4 3x120 swiftechs on their core2 setups with low single digit deltas.probably still hit two digits on i7.. .so what? Keep it under 60C and enjoy


Seriously though the norm with watercooling is not about better temps than air cooling (that is rarely the case unless you spend a lot on WCing.) the big benefit of WCing.. is getting the same temps you can with extreme air cooling .. at much much lower decibels IMHO

You can do alot with second hand parts though and second parts are much cheaper, just be prepared to clean the shit outta them, oh it helps if you make sure the previous user never tried Dyes... those things canker up a WC loop)

now i am just trying to get the $$ together and then we can take from there..
first thing i am gonna be doing is get a new radiator and before that as for now i monna get some new tubing..
and try see if i can get a water block for my 780i board ='(

I was just thinking about making my own pots the other day come to think of it

a 6-8" long copper square pipe. mayb 2" on a side. Just gotta make some "fins" on the inside of the GPU mount point for better thermal conductivity (more surface area).. lap it for good DIE contact and seal up the bottom somehow.

What you need is a Boreas unit for general duty and a cpu pot for when you want to go extreme. A Boreas will run over any water cooled loop you could ever build unless you used chilled water.

I was running 1-2C delta on my waterloop last night at 4GHz and it was not even that cold out.

i never had a cpu pot before, i know what it looks like but i don't know know what it looks like if that mean anything to any one here

i know what dose it do, and i know it's Cu made, that has a very nicely lapped base but other than that i don't know how it's made or anything like that

now is it connected to it's base and stuff like that, my school down time is coming up, if i am not going anywhere during spring break... i will be doing ALOT stupid bench at home
