I've been in this since the RadioShack 48K desktop was king. My first home computer was a Commodore Vic20 with 6kb or RAM

At work we had a 2GB hard drive hooked up to a Radio Schak 128K machine, the HDD costs over $10,000.
then, when the all powerful IBM PC came out with 2 5.5in floppys, I was able to write macro programs by having the system disk in Drive A while the data disks went in and out of Drive B as needed
bout the time the AT came out, I was building my own. A 20 MEGABYTE HDD on a ISA card costs over $400. I meg of RAM costs close to $100, especially if you went for the fast 80ns sticks

My first real home pc cost me $2,200 for a 12Mhz 286, a 20MB hdd, a floppy, and that's about it. the black and white monitor cost somewhere around $300
Yup, times have changed
