They are only Elipdas which so far from what I have seen are not plagued like the Hyper Elipdas.

I've heard of only one kit of Muskin Hypers dead so far. Seems the be the least of the evils at this point.

On the other hand, I haven't seen anyone with dead Avantium sticks. Probably because there are so few of them out in the wild. AFAIK, they all used early chips similar to the first batch of Kingston from the Egg which seems to be a bit more reliable.

I have to agree on the OCZ statement also. Seems odd they stop using the chips unless they had indeed seen the failures. I'm just going to assume they weren't too thrilled about admitting to the failures publicly. Glad to see them honoring the warranty still though

Here was what I did with them for the few days I had em. Later i wished I hadn't RMAed them but if my Newest set of Blades fail me, I will get a refund and go back to the Ascents.

If you want you might jump within the next 48 hours as promo code "MEMSALE10" gets you 10 bucks off.

Here's Anandtech's review which is what I believe prompted all the fuss. Thanks AnandTech!

It looks like Mushkin has chimed in on this subject. Look for the sticky on there forums.
Looks like good news for us with redlines.

this is pretty much what i was expecting from the Mushkin boys. hopefully they have a good stash of IC's that don't suffer from the failures...and to figure out which kits they are on

All this thing worries me...I was considering buying Dominator GTs and now, not only these are out of the question, but I fear to buy anything with Hyper Elpida ICs...

However, OCZ says they encountered no significant RMA problems...Was it Corsair's fault then, or was there a problematic chip batch?

No it was not Corsairs problem... You are where I was a month ago. I thought Kingston had a problem so I chose Corsair... It is the chip supply that the brands are getting to put in their RAM.

I think what has happened is we as "Higher end" users want the latest and greatest yesterday. And what we have have in our systems right now is nice but not as good as what they have coming out.

This causes commitments to be made by several suppliers to the manufacturers, that they can meet the demand. Well everything has a window or margin of error for things out of controllable realm. And this window is always being reduced.

And that has allowed for products to be introduced and available faster and faster every launch!

Well I think what that has caused is our demand to be to greater, and the technology that we have become accustomed to getting faster than we can spend money has finally caught up....

They need to fix this silicon issue and bring the parts out ready to rock... Not have a % of failure that is OK with them. Because this % seems to get bigger and bigger with each launch and now they have to pay for this piss poor management of the consumer desire vs a quality, ready for retail product.

Any failure over 1% is unexceptionable. Period.

It is the chips that are failing, not the testing of the brands. The Brands had better go back to their suppliers and demand the quality to be #1 not beating or meeting a desired product launch date....
