Most of the time I get that problem it's because the card is tilted down a little in the back from fiddling with something and the front of the card lifts up out of the slot a tad and loses contact.
I remove all eraser and insulation from the board last night, then tried compressed air from all angles to clean it out. Haven't tried it yet but hopefully that will do it. If not, either off to pep boys or I'll just try using rubbing alcohol.
