Something to be said for one color garage floor, but those chips (sprinkles) you toss in give the floor more character and really makes it "show room ready"

Waiting for more work to be done and pics posted

I think I'll get a feel for how it looks as I'm applying it - make the speckle decision then. Good points guys.

Took 2 more degreasing scrubs and 2 more acid etching sessions. Had to use almost a whole gallon of muriatic.

Now it has a sandpaper feel and should be ready for epoxy tomorrow.

Lol, the "2 hour" prep time Armor Garage claimed turned out to be 16 hours and 5 times the materials they sent me. Rather do it the right way now and avoid regretting it for the next 30 years.

Now it's nice and white. Just needs to dry over night.

Judging from those wetspots looks like you did a REAL good job prepping the surface

Nice work so far

Lol.

The epoxy has a 30-40 minute working time after you mix it with the catalyst, so I did it in batches.

Ran into some snags.......

I basically eyeballed the 2:1 mixing ratio and ended up with less catalyst for the second batch. That wouldn't have been much of a problem (just delayed setting time) except that I also ran out of buckets and poured the catalyst right into the epoxy pigment bucket - and ended up mixing it suboptimally. I didn't realize it until the next day when I was getting ready for the clear coat - the final 2X6 ft section I applied was nowhere near set.

Waited another day. Still not set.

Another day. Still not set.

Only thing that makes sense is that the epoxy at the very bottom of the bucket didn't get enough catalyst.

Now it's 4 1/2 days later and finally starting to harden. Far cry from the 5-6 hours it took for the rest of the floor.

Hope to clear coat tomorrow and get some updated pics up.

Sounds like a royal PITA, but should be worth it when you're finished

Time to get working on this again.

Just rented a concrete grinder to strip off the crappy epoxy. For some reason my wife laughs at how excited I get about playing with new toys. Come on, who wouldn't get excited about loud machinery that spins fast and cuts into concrete?

Finally got an electrician out to the house. The benching wall's gonna have 4 separate 20amp circuits. Think that'll be adequate?

I liked watching his face change as he switched from "talk this guy back down to reality" mode to "oh my god, you could conceivably need this" mode. Now both of us are excited.
