I doubt it, I mean, looking at anandtech, intel say failure rate is 5-15% over 3 years.
So it can't be that bad.
And I don' see how they could have known?

All I can tell you is I have lost every ssd/hdd install I have prepared for this mb...I have never had that kind of luck with any other platform and I used to swap drives between platforms with no problems.

So I guess it is up to us to contact Asus and get another mb?

So far I haven't found any sata problems or lost any OSes with my UD5 so I'm crossing my fingers. Seems like my board is doing fine, except for the memory (hypers) compatibility issues which may or may not eventually be fixed via bios update. Think its time to invest in some Gskills.
