I looked for that thread but cant seem to find it. I do remember that discussion and the results were good. (not from my experience, as I dont have a phase change but reading other members daring-do)

It will help, no doubt. but a 2" block under a 3" pipe cap, i dunno. You'll have to be really anal on the insulation.... make sure it fits perfect under there, or it's frostville in the worst spots.

How does adding copper not add mass?
