Default ASUS Rampage Extreme III testing thread

So the new hyped ASUS board is in my hands and I figured its time for a thread where we can share our experiences with it. First of all I have to say that I'm not too impressed with the quality of this board. Reading around the internet I found a few sources which were indicating that the placement of the TIM on the X58 and the southbridge were terrible. Well I took the sink off today and this is what came into the light. I thought the days of using this NOOB gluey gum are over. I guess not. Also one of the screws was not screwed all the way in on the southbridge causing bad contact which you can see in the pics. Another thing is the X58 part of the sink. It looks like there is 3 threaded holes in the sink but only 2 screws were holding it in place. Can someone with this board check on this for me. I replaced the TIM and mounted a WC block. This is it for now. My new ram will be here on Friday so the initial testing follows during the weekend.

Also the more I have been inspecting the including accessories the more I think this is a used board which was sold as new to by me the Egg. Accessory bags taped closed with regular office tape is not exactly stock. WTF Egg?

Yeah lots of prints everywhere. I'll take this thing for a round of abuse and if she is not behaving I'll RMA it. Eraser ready and off we go.

Wow, that's shitty man. For that price that thing better come out the box shining. Not all finger printed up. You might chat with Newegg about this and tell them about your experience. Chances are they will get another one out to you. Post up some shots of the BIOS when you can please.

Mine looked new. My lightning sure didn't.

Guess I should have removed the sink before prepping, but I got lazy and really need to get to benching. Temps so far are great on "NB" and SB. Off to flash Fermi BIOS and play with ROG connect (now that I figured out I wasn't pressing the damn connect button next to to the connector......).
