i7 920 vs. 940
hey guys i just got a i7 940 to replace the my "old" i7 920
my 920 is oced to 4.2 24/7 with out any tuning and i have not seen very many people using them do they oc well? i see that on hwbot the highest oc with 920 is much higher than the 940 is 940 that bad of an oc? and also dose the ssd help with benchmarking? cuz i can get a x25-m 80 for 130 right now |
i had the 940 on the gb x58 xtreme ...did 4.2ghz...imc is weak though...cpu max speed is crippled. its a C0.

About the SSD, the only benchmark where it benefits is PCMark05. I dont think any other benchmark sees any benefit of a SSD. |

i monna try oc the new 940 see how that works out, my 920 works just fine, didn't really need a replacement chip yet it's just i wanna have something new every year my 920 is running 4.2GHz 24/7 no overheating issue at all... and i am getting a new pot made for me [the guy is still working on it... idk why the hell is taking so long oh well...] i see alotta people ocing 920s but not 940s so maybe i can try hit #1 2 3 for IT~ :D lol i don't think i monna go with the SSD then if there is only 1 bench that's gonna be benefit from it then F it, :D i monna go get another 1.5T:D:D:D |
My 920 CO was pretty epic. Did 4.6ghz valid and 4.5ghz benchable with water cooling on a Giga X58 Extreme.
Word of advice for that 940, don't use the even multi's. Stick with 20x + 1x turbo (21x) or you'll pull out your hair. |
