GEARS OF WAR dilemna
 

Gears of war 3 is scheduled to come out 3 days from now. My daughter took my xb0x 360 when she moved out and uses it for her DVD player. Since she doesn't have cable, I'm hesitant to take the console back. so, if I want to play gears of war 3 I have to buy something.

If I go with a new Xbox the most cost effective way is the Gears of War 3 limited edition. A cheaper way out would be to buy my daughter an inexpensive blu ray player and take back my old outdated system

Obviously, I'm leaning towards the new limited edition, but, it's a ton of money just to play gears of war, and for the most part, I really dislike the console controllers and prefer gaming on the PC.

What to do, what to do....

EDIT: missed the bit about the BD player.. that seems like your best bet.

I have no idea how much Xboxs are though, if GOW is a FPS game then I would get it for PC.

I would get it for PC as well, except Microsoft will NEVER release it on anything other than the Xbox :thumbdown: It's THE game that made the xbox the success that it is. RatBastards :ohcrap:

yeah, the BD would have been the least expensive, but..... ummm.... ahhh....
just ordered the GOW Limited Edition package from Amazon. It will be delivered on the 20th which is the games release date. Sick looking box and special controllers... how could I not :laughing:

After all, it's not quite as expensive as a GTX 580 :Dizzy:

man consoles suck the big one. After 7 dead units (4 360's/3 PS3's) I gave up on em. Good luck MD, make sure to blow it kisses every time you turn it on and it works lol.

Maybe throw it in a case for better cooling

Kiki, I have an older model that I gave my daughter (above) that went into MS for RMA 2 or 3 times because of the red ring of death. These are "supposed" to be more stable lol

WD, I was actually thinking of setting up some fans, or, EK makes an xbox 360 water block. The Lian Li case looks cool, but there was no order button. Might put it inside my HAF full tower :laughing:

???? Are you talking about the ring of death thingy? If so why don't you fix that yourself. Pretty sure it is just a over heating issue due to shitty CPU heatsink mount that is easily fixed.


On a different note I'm anxious to see if the XBOX games will work on Windows 8.

hmm... you appear to be correct Dr.Nip on Gears of War1. However, a google search fails to turn up any trace of GOW2 for PC, so maybe that's the one you heard may be released next year?

Red Ring of Death I think is more a power issue more than just a heat issue. Second time I had to send my power supply in as well ??

GoW II they never released. There is buz out there that the 3rd will come next year though.

Pretty sure about the heat issue. There are a plethora of ring of death fixes out there. Everyone I have seen deal with redoing the CPU and GPU heatsinks.

Well man, I gotta ask you.. how can you play GoW3 if you never had the chance to play GoW2??? huh??? After all, it's a trilogy :rofl:

I suspect it will be more like a cell phone than a traditional PC OS.

I couldn't describe it any better. Picture Win7 on a smartphone. Right now I'm working with it for mass imaging production, and so far it's just as lovely in that respect as Win 7 is.

Having a touch screen is obviously the way to go with it but it's nice with traditional input methods.

Where can I get it at ?

Funny in 2004-5 I was running 5 monitors with one of them a touch screen. Honestly, I think it is a stupid idea for a desktop.
Why would I take my hands off KB/mouse to reach up to the screen. WTF?

Now for MS surface (or whatever that OS is called they use on TV) I can see the benfits of touchscreen. Problem is most interactions require a useful KB..

Mankind is attacked by a race referred to as "Locusts" that have lived underground and are now attacking the surface. IMO, a far more intense and interesting game to play than Halo. Graphics are awesome (the unreal engine) and very detailed. Main weapon is the Lancer which is a combat rifle with a chain saw in place of a knife - you run up to a locust and cut him in half :rofl:

hard to explain but an excellent game. GOW 1 is the only one out of PC, and prolly pretty cheap since it's been out for awhile.
