Well here is Windwithme's run on the Biostar. Looks like Win7 with aero even enabled.

6m 41.467s - so convert that into seconds which is 401.467. Then multiply that by the CPU mhz which is 5120mhz.

401.467 * 5120 = 2055511

Basically that is blazing fast. That is amazing efficiency on X58 triple channel with hypers. Keep in mind when I say amazing on X58, I mean on XP or server03 fully tweaked out. This is just on win7 with aero enabled. Sub 2mil eff should be pie on some good hypers and proper OS.

Other than benchmarks, what will these really be of benefit to one compared to what we now have?

Chuchnit 11-24-2010 02:44 AM

Native sata III, heavy increase in IPC imo, lower power, maybe more cpu mhz.....

rickss69 11-24-2010 03:10 AM

No, I mean in real life utilization...will one be able to game, surf, ect. any better than we now do? Heck, if nothing ever improved from what we have now I would still be satisfied... :taunt:

Probably not much I don't think. Personally I think computers are so fast vs software that the only reason to buy new stuff is if you happen to be in the market for a new rig or benching. I just don't see a new cpu/mobo giving you a noticeable difference. Money could be better spent on ssd's or video cards.

I think game play will be like being in a movie one day ..... it is already getting close to that.

Hope Crysis 2 pushes the envelope ..... many new titles, it does not seem like they are really going after it ...

I'm buying Crysis 2 regardless if the game sucks or not. I'll buy for the sole fact that they are trying to push the envelope of PC gaming.

Back on topic, Sadly there are only a few new titles that really utilize more than two cores. This is where SB will shine in these games. I think when more and more games come out that support quads and above the advantage is taken away. Just like in the little review that was posted. BFBC2 taxes 4 cores and by doing that SB is no better than current 45nm s1156 quads.

HW development begets software development.

Unfortunately HW Development also begets sloppy code writers that can make up for a lack of sophistication in their software by throwing straight MHz at it. A la Java and Flash based apps. But some games as well.

Honestly there really is no need to upgrade yet, but who can resist!! A good AM3/X58 setup is smokin right now :) I am sure P55 falls in there somewhere as well.
