I made it from scraps and stuff I was able to snag at work and it actually works decently, just not as well as the pro-made pots you guys use and not nearly as pretty either I admit.
As for the height, I did that on purpose to help control accidental acetone boilovers, the extra height and the fact the tube gets wider in diameter towards the top really helps with that. No, I haven't used it but a couple of times since I made it and it's mounted to this day on the board pictured with it.
DICE for me isn't exactly easy to get since I must drive 60+ miles round trip just to get it and that's alot of expense just to use it at all with the price of gas nowadays. Anyway, here it is and at least I do have one if I ever decide to use it again one day.
As for LN2, forget that - I'd have to go even further and I don't even own a dewar or anything like that for LN2.

mother of god! some of you guys from CP are crazy!
remember this?

good to seeing you back around 3D!

Edit: What kind of pot is that 3D

ThreeDhero 01-22-2012 06:50 PM

Thanks OC, it was time to dust off the pot

Whats up kiki son, glad to see you again bud!

The pot is just a Koolance V2 with the nickel base sanded down to the copper for maximum response using DICE.
Its sucks using it with motherboards that have really close caps around the cpu socket since the base is huge, makes you double check for good mounts. But with the 1366 it holds temps very well.

Probrably would but I'm not sure if it's any good for LN2.

Works at least for DICE but eats it up for breakfast - I mean it's one of those pots that will really eat it up in a hurry at first but once chilled, it's not bad. Has a 3/4 inch thick aluminum base so it's probrably a good coldbug pot but not as good as copper obviously. The tube and base are bonded with JB Weld and that's why I'm not sure if LN2 would work, I don't know how well that stuff would withstand the really cold temps before it has a problem.
It holds up fine though with DICE so no concerns about that. :good:
