Arent these the same as the Gskill Ecos?

Hondacity 08-13-2010 10:40 PM

the gskill ecos are ...i'm guessing are elpida bbse they don't scale well with higher voltage..

The reviews Ive seen and the ones I have do.

not sure what vdimm range you are talking about. but what i'm talking about is over 1.7v that yields good results because of overvolting.

Anyways, I am getting off track here. At the rated latency of 7-8-7-24 and 1.35 V the G.Skill 1600 MHz ECO kit actually has a healthy amount of headroom. I ended up with 1715 MHz at this "stock setting", which is a very good overclock. Pushing the voltage to 1.5 V, I managed to do a successful run at 1800 MHz, but increasing the voltage beyond that did not yield any improvements once again.

We have seen some other tests of the same kit scale up to 1.65v but ours topped out at 1.58v max so we decided on a max of 1.55v for our testing.

Oh, I was talking up to 1.65v or so. Have seen 2100+ 6-9-6 or 6-10-6, I forget which. It was at XS.
With 1.45 I can do 7-8-7 1800Mhz prime stable, or bench around 6-7-6.

Just sucks that was with AM3, and now on my i5 Im stuck at stock with them from the mem controller on this i5.

Hondacity 08-14-2010 06:56 PM

am3 can't do high frequency yet...the imc just doesn't have the speed with higher memory...

2100 @ 6-9-6 sounds more like early psc... the elpidas can't do super low tCl @ high frequency... even if tRCd is delayed/softened

I was getting far higher mem speeds on AM3 then I am on this setup now though. 1800 was a breeze with the 965 I had, and I cant post past 1600 with this i5.

Ive seen some AM3s up to 2300. Not as high as Ive seen 1156, but still pretty high.

i just read the thread over @ xs

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=239426&page=5

- limited max voltage
- possibly bbse because of limited voltage
- also possible psc of old revision...

anyways its a different chip they're using from the kingston lovos.

Sucks that.. P55 loves the QPI...

Gotta do high qpi/mem on p55 to equivilate that X58 stuff :) THought that was the benefit of going with a budget chipset.

HC: Thought that thuban could break the 2K barrier?

Hondacity 08-14-2010 09:35 PM

its not p55

its lynfield imc versus clarkdale imc...

i remember ceil had a i5-7xx ...i forget
