In what appears to be a move to build off of the momentum on the "I'm a PC" Ads, Dell is now comparing their Dell Studio PCs to Apple MacBook Pros. In a very bold marketing statement, Dell claim that buying a Studio PC will save you over $1000! They are also making sure that people who are buying laptops are aware that Windows 7 is also included as a free upgrade from Vista in order to not scare users away.

It basically says that Dell is the same product for 1000 dollars less and that you're overpaying with Apple. It also says that you're not getting as big of a discount with Apple as you do with Dell and that Dell is a better choice because they offer productivity software for free as opposed to something that doesnt affect education at all. Pretty clear that dell is trying to make apple appear grossly overpriced and simply ask people if they're willing to overpay 1000 dollars because a macpro looks better. Thats the marketing strategy and its a direct attack on apple because they even mention them in the comparison. Not to mention they're clearly trying to fight for the college student laptop crew.

I tend to believe that Apple's products are massively overpriced...what are they selling exactly, design? Lacie sell design with it's external HDDs but their prices are excellent...

I agree Apple's laptops are overpriced, that's one of the reasons I've never bought one :D
