It's being discussed. Honestly it kinda makes people lazy (intentionaly or not). Alot of great imformation is lost in the chatbox.

Still tossin off to this idea, I liked when members used it for socializing and comradory so its still being discussed. Honestly, due to the fact that we're heavily screening new members and utilizing the invite only basis, it shouldnt be too hard to get the idea of directing tech related info into the threads done.
We shall see.

If we would have added a instant messenger 3/4 the posts that have been posted in the last few days would not have been posted due to people just hanging out in the messenger. Oh it is fun but the negatives out way the positives.

The chatbox idea is dead for now, it may be added at a later time specifically for the gaming section when game servers, server admins and gamers have developed.
My opinion on this is that at the very least, we all have instant messenger proggies to use. If the shit hits the fan on your system that badly, one of us will gladly jump on a messenger proggie to help you out.

if possible have a number of shouts in a day or hour just limit them so a whole trouble shoot discussion is inconvenient. Or even limited on characters idk just some suggestions.

I would like to have some form of a chatbox. I'm not sure how to use one without losing good information though. On the other hand, a lot of forums end up looking like chatboxes, where the good info is buried under page after page of comments and conversation. This is a problem as difficult to deal with as the loss of information to a chatbox.
Real time help can be very valuable to someone with a problem. A chat box is a nice way to get help. Not having one sends people to messenger and the likes where the info will never be seen again.
Perhaps having a way to save chatbox conversations for future reference is a solution. If chatbox conversations were kept for a longer period of time then the important parts could be saved and the crap deleted.....that would require constant reviewing by someone and poses yet another problem.
Maybe if we kick this around enough we will come up with a good solution.

A chatbox is also a form of laziness as the last site proofed that.

Ya...I'm just kicking it around to try to get the best of both worlds.

Oh I hear ya and would like nothing more than to have one here but it just seems that you can't have both no matter what you do. People, including I will get too lazy and not post as with the other site. It took away from the forum and made it more of a instant messenger. If at anytime people won't or need to get a hold of me instant message style, my MSN is listed and I am usually on all day even though I am at work.

We need more kicking. So far I haven't found any plausible solution. The chatbox was pretty cool for conversations and getting to know ur fellow overclocker though.
I did find a hack that allowed for realtime updated of thread views under certain conditions, but, again, viewing this hack on some forums, the good info got buried in the thread and became a chatbox of non-sense.

The only solution would be for everyone to tell someone to take it to the forum and start a thread if someone got too chatty about a problem or something. Other than that we'll just have to do without the shoutbox like we have been.

YEP.....There has to be a way we can use the chatbox.....we just need to think on it and come up with a solution.

if there will come one day a shoutbox, chatbox, just one rule : no tech talk then, for techtalk or problems, make topic
