My Evga X58 died tonight. Did a new OS install an installed the chipset drivers an it never booted again. The Post code is 7F which is a code for user intervention. Every time I hit F1 or Delete I'd get a new code.

I've swapped out VGA cards, tried individual ram sticks an broke the system down to what is needed to run no luck. Havent tried the psu thow.

The day before I kept getting a pop up saying that my chipset was not compatible to my OS which is vista 64. Then gives me a link to Intels site for a hotfix. When I ran the hotfix it said it wasnt for my system lol.

This will be the last Nvidia board I buy:mad:

That suckos Gutter. Sounds like something got all screwed up there. X58 is an intel chipset btw. How were you running the board before this happened? Under the chiller or anything?

All stock settings. Didnt say it wasnt an Intel chipset. My hard drives were disappearing just before this happened also. Ill rebuild it out of a case tomorrow. Lots of posts here an there says it the Vga card seating. But I wasn't touching or moving anything just a restart.

Sorry Gutter. I know what you meant by nvidia board :rofl That truly sucks. Are you gonna RMA and hope you get a good board, or jump ship to a different brand?

Want the RX2 but price is to high rite now. Mopar was showing me some youtube videos from shimano about the classified an well that thing looks like a nightmare. The ram slots are sloppy an wobble the stick an cause it to not boot,

Well it's only supposed to give an advantage under sub ambient temps. Plus you get the latency penalty from the nforce 200 chip. IMHO my choice for an i7 board would be between the Classified, REX II, or the DFI UT-X58. Out of those three I would still probably go with option 1 or 2.

Hard drives disappearing and chipset nags from the OS would lead me to believe that either your PCIe controller is on the fritz or the sb itself croaked. That is what the issue has been in my previous experience anyway, better luck with the next one!

Damn.... sorry to hear, and I thought I had problems. Atleast my board still works, I just had to put a wireless nic in it.
