Don't buy one. I got two in a row that are DOA. Totally dead. I thought the numerous reviews about bad ones were from whiners that didn't know what they were doing.....boy was I wrong.

Noted! New plan of action??????

That was just to make an email rig out of my i7 940......worst part is that the RMA board got to me one day after the 30 day time frame for the Newegg RMA. The RMA for the second board starts when you bought the first one. What a rip. I think that is total BS. Now I have to go through the Asus RMA process.....I can't F$!@$ing wait to see what that is like.

I must say after the huge thread over at XS I jumped on a M4A79 Deluxe for a ridiculously low $130 shipped from Garo.

Regrettign it though, as my $105 (AMIR) Foxconn A79A-S overclocked my 920 about 2-250MHz higher.

Seems like a good board and I could even recommend you some ram for it too.

I would hope I could use my Mushkin Redline 1600 MHz 6-7-6-18 3X2 Gb, or my Kinston HyperX 2000 MHz...both brand new. I have some other DDR3 but I can't remember off hand what it is LOL

I would actually be interested to see how well that redline works in the Gigabyte board, I went to 1866 Dominator GT's and it opened this board right up.

I'll let you know how it works on the R2E.........and if I have any problem with the Assus RMA I'll be trying a Gigabyte board next.

Hell, I might even give the EVGA board a try...must be good enough for an email rig. I hear it overclocks well but has latency problems that kill it in benches. Anyone know if that is a truth or just a theory from EVGA haters?

If your replacement with New Egg was for replacement they probably turned the RMA into repair after they issued the initial RMA. They did this to me with a P5Q deluxe. The just changed the serial number. I could see where the sub zero prep was exactly as I sent it back. I also went through this with my R2E and to be sure I did not get the same one back Imarked the back of the MOBO and sure enough they returned the bad board to me as a replacement.
After speaking with a manager the refunded my money in full for both boards and I purchased new ones.

I never even prepped that board. It was truely DOA. They may very well have sent me the same board back with a new serial number as it behaved exactly as the first one.....I sent an interesting email to them. As much money as I spend there they better reconsider what they are doing. I told them I wanted a refund for the second one and that I would buy a different board. Thanks for the info.

Newegg has definitely lost a lot of it's once great customer service, I look everywhere else I can think of before buying from them now as they will do a 300% price hike overnight.

Wow what a pitty! I had V1 when core i7's where first released and it was a wonderful experience easily overclocked my core i7 to 4.3ghz stable and no hiccups. It's too bad these V2's aren't working as good.

LOL here I am talking about my meesely 4.3ghz. You guys are pretty extreme here. I may have to start saving up for Phase or even play with some DICE or LN2 :argh:

Nah I don't mind. I get it all the time. Hell I refer to myself as that too. I thought you might have liked it here. I've been out doing a lil recruiting. My goal is to build this community with a great group of peeps from newbs to the extremes. The two forums I frequented the most in the past lost my attention as there is a bigger world to overclockin that was was at those forums. I made a goal this year to go outside the box and meet the overclockers of the world and to help build one of the best damn forums known with these overclockers I have met on my adventures! We've had a few ups and downs, bumpin of the heads on the way but the success of this forum is more important than those bumps. You think this is great, just wait as you ain't seen nothin yet.

Naw it's just the difference between water and subzero, personally I think 4.3ghz 24/7 is more impressive than 5ghz for a few runs. Oh and SteveO has more balls than brains sometimes too :P

I like guys like that, they tend to be lots of fun to hang around with although sometimes troublesome, I've gotten my ass kicked once because of a ballsie old friend of mine.

Yeah, I still want to play with LN2 and or dice, but phase is so much more appealing because I can run that 24/7.

I can't really run 4.3ghz at the moment this was winter time since the temps were getting up there and right now being hot with almost summer temps in LA the CPU gets a little too hot for my comfort at 4.3Ghz so 4.2Ghz is what it is for now.

Yes, I have more than my share of balls.

Damnit Steve I wish you had more time to be around :( I love that attitude of yours. If you could sneak away a little each day we could make you a political discussion forum :p
