I go by Planet or Cpt.Planet so you have prolly seen me around the boards.

Real name is Jake and I am currently working in the industry. I left a job at EVGA few months back to pursue a better opportunity so right now I am really enjoying that.

Finally getting back into LN2 overclocking after a while of not doing to much. New job gives me more time off and I can bench at work once in a while so that's nice. Have competed in several contests and several top finishes as well as a World Championship.

*Not so much gaming anymore

I feel your pain...

High scores are meaningless anymore. Unless they count for something :) :Hi:

My favorite games are Wprime and superpi, with a little Pifast thrown in now and then. I hope to someday understand the Futuremark series... because lets face it, that is where the big gamers play, but that requires a lot of expensive equipment unfortunately.

But like me, you can keep upgrading your controllers if you pay attention. :clapping:

ScrappyCoco... it is all good :) Thanks for being here and pushing and pushing like you do :Hi: I know exactly how you bench. I do the same damn thing. Bench what you got, and push till another botter goes down :) We may not compete with the big dogs.. .but we do what we can with what we got... and that is the overclockaholics way.

Believe me... it has been said enough times by the big dogs here.. if you have not seen it.. Every boint counts.

Hey everybody. Nice energy you've got going on here.

Nik: Patch

My brief tech history:
70's: Atari. (At friend's. We never had one).
Early 80's: Arcades. Quarter on a string led to endless Joust.
1986-1994: Brother word processor/typewriter. Swore off video games.
1995-1999: Used Unversity computers at grad school. Still swore off video games.
2000: Bought first computer so my wife and I could hop on the interwebs.
2005: Bought Age of Mythology on a whim. Tried a few more games.
2007: Upgraded RAM in my Dell. Felt pretty proud of myself.
2008: Upgraded to an 8800GT in that same Dell. Felt real proud of myself.

July, 2008: Realized that I have 3 kids that will one day be teenagers. Looked at our friends with teenage kids and noticed that they knew far more about computers than their parents. Started to think about what sort of content there is online.......:scared:
Figured I better finally learn how to use these things FAST so I'm not stuck in the dark.

Decided to build my own. E8400 + P5Q Pro.

Sept, 2008: Heard about overclocking, so tried it. Promptly bought an aftermarket heatsink.
Jan, 2009: Decided I needed an i7 for the interwebs. Figured I should take the custom watercooling plunge. Fun. Bought a dremel.
Summer, 2009: Got a DICE pot from Duniek. Got mad at my Bloodrage baseclock issues. Heard about the PCIE mod and bought a soldering iron. Never soldered anything before, but when I get an itch I scratch it. :D

-80 started to seem kinda warm, so............dewar time.

Do I sound addicted?

Nick- Kow_ciller (you can call me kow, or Dex)

I'm a soon to be 3rd year college student. My main hobbies are PC gaming, and of course overclocking. I've been building computers since I was 9, and been benching since I was 12. Started benching with my Athlon 1ghz and radeon 8500 that I volt-modded and made a custom cooling setup on it. At the moment I'm rocking a P55 platform, and bought 775 setup and a Dragon Evo pot so I can go cold over the summer. Up until a year or so ago, I would mostly overclock for fun, or get a higher FPS in my games (which I still do to some extent) but since hwbot changed and I actually have points I've been addicted with it.

Just saying hello and thanks to Splave for helping out with registration

I cut off benching for about two years and now I"m back since March and started with some budget CPU grinding and collecting some oldschool GPUs which need to be modded and punished soon. So I was looking for vmods but unfortunately best place with such info- vr-zone database was down :ohcrap: So I started searching other forums and after seeing your growth in hwbot rankings decided to check it out.

Didn't find much info about vmods I needed here but in general I'm quite impressed what you have achieved in such a short period of time- so far I really like your forum structure and team spirit. I guess I'll drop in here as regular as our local and OCX forum

IDK if it's anything like riding a bike.... I look at it like a bad cocaine habit:

All you want is more, sleep isn't necessary, and sometimes you would rather do that than eat. When you get a good bench session in, the high lasts for what feels like forever, but if you have a bad one, you want to beat the dealer with a bat. Or something along those lines...

IDK if it's anything like riding a bike.... I look at it like a bad cocaine habit:

I play guitar, and do a lot of my work on computers. I am currently unemployed so if you would like to help keep me from begging on the streets, please PM me and I'll send you the number for my swiss account :D

New to OCA... just joined up yesterday thanks to Splave and Kal-EL.

Nik: PolRoger

Forums: Mostly on OCF, XS and a little on OCN.
I've noticed and seen some of you around and also that you were members here at OCA so I thought I would come over and check it out.

Name: Harland

Profession: Currently a stay at home dad with two small children. I did work in the paper industry for ~ 18 years until my plant was closed. When the kids are a little bigger I expect I'll go back to work but most likely not back to my old industry.

Hobbies: Computers/Overclocking, high quality air rifles (so I can shoot around the house) and I've also got a few firearms in the gunsafe. Custom Knives... kind of backed off of that interest when I stopped working due to their high cost. Cars... current ride is a G8 GXP/LS3/6sp stick. Champagne and different kinds of wines in general as well as good food although two years ago I changed my diet/exercise/lifestyle and gave up most of my drinking except for a few times a year.

Benchmarks: I'm not a big bencher at least not yet. I've been running mostly just air (sometimes water). I've been pondering the possibilites of going cold... maybe soon? I tend to do more 2D benchmarks than 3D. I don't have current g-card tech...as I'm still rolling with GTX280.

Recent Hardware: Mostly socket 1366 these days on open air test bench. I've got a couple of 920's and a W3540. I would love to test a 32nm 1366 chip but $$ cost is holding me back. I 've got a few different X58 motheboards to go along with the chips. I'm looking forward to the new tech...Sandy Bridge especially socket 2011 and Bulldozer. I haven't tried AMD for a while now so I'm quite interested in seeing it in retail form.

Real name: Bill Peppas
Profession: Crazy-oh-meter :D ok seriously now, PC Elect. Engineer, mastering in Microprocessors
Hobbies: let me think... well... overclocking, music ( listening, playing [ synthesizer & drums ], DJing ), watching movies/tv shows, gorgeous only women, hanging out ( cafe/bar/pub ), basketball, fishing, diving
Benchmarks: gimme moar ( every single one ), favorite's 3D Mark2001SE
Current HW: a lot, a 5.86G 2600K, a few 980X's ( mostly crappy ones ), high end x58 & z68 mobos, lots of cherrypicked RAM kits from a-data, geil, corsair, some VGA's, lots of HDDs/SSDs/Sound cards/PSUs/RAID Controllers, etc
Hardware history ? Don't get me started.
Started with the notorious Amstrad CPC & Amiga to 386DX and every single high end CPU & VGA onwards.
Prefered SW: for 24/7 Windows 7 x64, for benching the best OS per application
About:
A weird guy.
26 (! what ? nooooo nooooo no! I wanna go back to being 16 plz! ) years old crazy ass mofo.
Advantages: very very ( if not absolutely ) straightforward, honest, friendly, caring, sharing, understanding, and easy to get along with ( as long as you're not a bad person, that is a no-go ), over-realistic ( can be misunderstood as pessimistic at some point lol ).
Dis-advantages:
Very very straightforward, very picky on women, can't stand liars ( especially the white lies kind of people ) and any kind of bad attitude ( any kind, any form ), very picky on food ( I have an exquisite taste in food & women )

My first FPE ( First Person Encounter :D ) with a "PC" was in late 1989, and I've been hooked up with computers & technology ever since ( I fetched a screwdriver and tore it apart in mid 1990, my mother came back home and saw the Amstrad ripped apart and went crazy, but I re-assembled it and fixed the malfunctioning disk drive and she was like "wtf", never doubted me ever since :D )
If it's working with electricity ( and it's not an iron, oven, dish/clothes washing machine ), it is my thing :D

Benchmarks: gimme moar ( every single one ), favorite's 3D Mark2001SE
Current HW: a lot, a 5.86G 2600K, a few 980X's ( mostly crappy ones ), high end x58 & z68 mobos, lots of cherrypicked RAM kits from a-data, geil, corsair, some VGA's, lots of HDDs/SSDs/Sound cards/PSUs/RAID Controllers, etc
Hardware history ? Don't get me started.
Started with the notorious Amstrad CPC & Amiga to 386DX and every single high end CPU & VGA onwards.
Prefered SW: for 24/7 Windows 7 x64, for benching the best OS per application
About:

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums.:Hi: I've been a pc junkie since 1989-1990 myself. I'm by no means an expert though. I stumbled across this site while searching for benchmarks on thermal compounds of all things ( building a new p.c. ). After looking around a bit I figured I could probably learn a lot here. I'm new to overclocking myself so hope you guys won't mind the occasional newb questions ...

I'm mainly into gaming. I play everything from mmo's to rts and fps. Anyone here going to play the new SWTOR or BF3? Planning on both myself.
Planning on picking up the HD 6950. Anyone had any experience with these cards? Read you could flash to a 6970 but don't know if it's true.

Hey everyone! I'm ShrimpBrime, a current member of TeamCP.

I was referred here by my Team captain Mr.Scott. He thought I'd really like all the OC action you guys have going on here, and So far everything I see, I really like!

Little of Shrimp....

I'm a garage HW modder. I like attempting overclocking and bench marking anytime I get a chance.
Mostly an AMD user, but have dabbled in some intel hw along the way.
My most favorite thing to do is the unthinkable and de-lid soldered processors. Then over clock them and every time there is a big difference in temperatures.

Also a Diesel Mechanic and father of 2 (almost 3..probably by Christmas) Boy, Girl, Boy, in that order. My Wife has been great, but doesn't like my OC habbits  You guys should have seen her face the first time I brought LN2 home. Priceless.

Any how, great to be here. Gonna read some rules, look at some pictures and do some reading.

Hi to all,
I am an old boy interested in "overclocking (http://www.overclockaholics.com/forums/index.php)" C programming etudes like strstr and hash table functions.

The reason I joined Overclockaholics (http://www.overclockaholics.com/forums/index.php) is because I need help to benchmark my latest search function written in C.
The test package takes some 14 minutes to complete and consists of one 197MB English text file and one 212MB DNA sequence file used as haystacks and to be traversed by Intel 12.1 and Microsoft 16 compiled 64bit executables.

I hope my CPU&RAM stressing test to be run on some much faster (than my Core2 T7500 2.2GHz) machine.

The test is downloadable at:
http://www.sanmayce.com/Railgun/index.html#DownloadSection

For those interested in what the test exploits:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/250566/Fastest-strstr-like-function-in-C

The resultant log file is some 90KB pure text, if your machine is I7 Sandybridge I would post the results at my article at http://www.codeproject.com, thanks in advance.

No need, I'm working to get everything settle straight. I know I messed up but some take it too far, especially if I'm trying to make it right.

There is no excuses to what I did and I take full blame, once everything gets settle I will gladly leave because it won't be the same for me. But like I said, once I make everything right. Just easy on the hatfull comments even tho I know I deserve them.

I thought that overclocking and tuning High-Performance search functions have much in common,
maybe I put my request on wrong address?

This is old news, I thought it enough that he just never showed up again, and here he is, worse yet claims not to remeber :Dizzy:

Like I said Assasin/Juan, leave, never come back ever, you are and always will be a theif

I hope you least at squared up with Shannon, just be happy I am not in driving distance, That would ultimantly turn out bad for you.

HAA I've seen Shannon drive six hours, to recover other people's stuff from another site............ He's not the type you wanna piss off Assasin!!!

Just to set everyone straight, Assasin sent me a 100 dollar money order as a first payment, I am hopeful he will continue to do so until the $ 375.00 is paid off.

I am glad he is making an effort to do the right thing, I hope he see's it through to the end for me and anyone else who was left hanging

If it will raise my 2D/3D score's then sure I am :clapping: Think your talking code or code writing or manipulation.
Hi PhIlLy ChEeSe (http://www.overclockaholics.com/forums/member.php?u=1311),
obviously my test is out-of-date, it won't raise anything but my greedy eyes.
I still have some hopes that an old-school overclocker will do me a favor by running the batch file waiting 10 minutes and sending a text file via email:

This is my latest strstr-showdown package (a zip archive).
File: KAZE_Trident_vs_BNDM_64_vs_Elsiane_vs_Hasherezade. zip
Size: 120 MB (126,074,306 bytes)
Size unpacked: 416 MB (436,599,966 bytes)
Size needed: 700 MB
To make the 'Trident_vs_BNDM_64_vs_Elsiane_vs_Hasherezade.txt' file simply run 'RUNME_Trident_vs_BNDM_64_vs_Elsiane_vs_Hasherezad e.bat' file.
It takes some 14minutes to complete on Core2Duo_E7500_2.93Ghz.
Of course in order to obtain decent results stop all the concurrent processes before running the test.
Also enable 100% computing power.

Hope dies last.

where do we get the file and is it threaded?

where do we get the file and is it threaded?

The test is one 126,074,306 bytes ZIP file at:
http://www.sanmayce.com/Railgun/index.html#DownloadSection

It is not threaded, it is 64bit executables (C source included) simple console test.
I will be very glad (and in debt) for Intel and/or AMD rigs being tested.

The results are to be posted at:
