So just got this board 2 days ago, and my PSU melted the 8pin ATX Connecter but it still worked for a day! Then today I go to turn it on, and the PSU just spins for a micro second. So I keep trying to turn it on, and it goes! buuuuutt.......oh one of the cap's starts smoking :argh:

I really hope mwave.com will RMA it with a melted up 8pin connecter :argh:

Yeah it's very strange because it was fine when I first got it and the wall meter said it was using even less wattage then my P45 machine. And then that connecter had to melt and mess up everything lol

I don't suppose you checked it when you started overclocking did you? I checked mine at 4.4ghz while booting and then running 3d06 and it was pulling up to about 900w at the wall in a bench that only works 2 of my 4 gpu's.

Ya my Q9550 was 3.8GHZ 1.3'ish VCORE with 2GPU's on, my i7 4GHZ 1.25v and 1GPU on.

But when it died, it was only 2.4ghz 0.93V no HT too

Well I emailed them what happened, and got what looks like an auto response for RMA noting any physical damage will be rejected! So I hope they ship me a new one seeing the melted 8pin EPS. Think they will ship me a new one?

I would call them and verify this.

When in doubt, if you think you have a toasted psu DON"T TURN ANYTHING ON!!!

It wasn't the psu's I was worried about, mostly the connecters. But the PSU's are both fine still powering my old 4GHZ Precott without a hiccup. Strange, most have been something weird with the board. Like I said it fried at 2.4ghz .93V? Kinda strange

When you start dragging your 12v rail down you start increasing the amp draw and heat which normally results in burned connectors or cables.

Ya I totally agree with that. And by the way so everyone knows, I'm not a complete noob just been away from the whole computer and OC'ing scene since 2003 so alot of new things. I used to run chillers and DI and volt mods etc :P

Once I get a job (been jobless for awhile) I will start doing some extreme stuff :)

Thanks! It's taking me awhile to relearn everything, with all the new types of hardware too
