Hey guys. I was thinking about changing out my daily 1366 socket pc to a 1156 platform but i really dont want to wipe my HDD. Has anyone tried it? I was thinking all i really had to do was change the motherboard drivers. IDK i never tried and i really didn't want to mess with it without asking.

sometimes you will get lucky sometimes you will not, like when my 1366 became my only bench i wipped out my 775 board and all i had to do is plug the HDD in and push the power button then ta-da!

but i've also ran into the same board same swap and it BSODs when i try to start it up

ive used the same install on p965-p45-x58 before so you should be good just make sure you uninstall the software from the x58 before moving, cuz thats one thing i notice it didnt let me uninstall when i was another platform was like oc software

If you're running W7, no worries, it will take care of everything for you. Switch away.

Well i've had this install for about 3 years. I've never really had an issue with it. Also, i use outlook express for my mail. What would i do about that? Win 7 dosn't have it and i have a ton of business contacts in there. It just seems like alot of risk changing over to win 7 without doing a fresh install.

Hell i have Xp on my business pc thats 8yrs old. It's all about maintainence.

I think i'm just going to keep it the way it is. This install runs fine. I was just thinking a new setup would be nice since i have all the hardware. What i might do is just build a new pc and slowly install everything i have on this pc.
