Well since I am the cheap type, you guessed! It's another PSU rebuild :ohcrap:. I figured I repaired one already, plus I may be able to debtor things from happening down the road. As an added bonus I gonna link you guys to one of the coolest sites on the internet(@@badcaps.dom****))). Here's a link to the PSU repair that I did before, my first one(BFG/GR650WGSPSU).

They also helped me fix an LCD display linked it, this was a CCCFL replace in the end

And they helped to fix my 42 Insignia LCD TV, I replaced the PSU TV back working......... So here we go roll up your sleeves and don't be afraid :scared:
This is a 1000Kilowatt EnerMax Galaxy PSU, and we already know that it has a faulty 5v(red wire) Rail that is killing everything.
A little work history of mine, I used to do remote starter and alarms, high end systems, theft recovery's (the S10 steering column rebuild, new ignitions). I did this for 12 years from the time I was thirty. Since that time I do electronics repair more or less for the last six years.

Yup sounds like its the inverter board that plugs into the CCFL, hold a flash lite up the the screen while the monitor/computer is turned on see if you see the desk top?

We know its a weak five volt rail, plus I'D like to beef it up a little bit so as not to worry about hooking my stuff up to it again. I'll be linking this thread into badcaps soon to get there advice, all they need is clear pictures of the top and the bottom on the main board. They like high resolution pictures as it helps them to see any issues.

LOL<
Well so far one guy over there has kinda trouble shoot my issue and offered to buy it off me for a few bucks...............:thumbdown:WTF! Anyone here know about DC-DC converters? All you got to do is point me in the right direction and I can use a multimeter to test it.

Well I think we pretty much have the issue pined down to aging caps on the secondary side of the PSU, (secondary side) being the lower voltage output side. I have ordered new caps for it, funny thing is EnerMax makes a good PSU! BUT on my PSU the primary side has RubyCon caps witch are high quality caps with a long life n lower ESR. On the secondary side they put cheap caps, witch are not quality and do not have a long life. All my parts cost about $15.00 as I broke a transistor while trying to read the spec's off of one of the caps that were under the heat sink, they are all quality caps i purchased with long life and low ESR ratting. We will then load test the PSU(with stuff I don't mind losing) to see how the 5v rail is doing and proceed from there.........
I ordered my stuff from DigiKEy witch is about the cheapest and has everything you may need when doing caps, these are also used for modding.
