So I got the Maximus EX Z all set up an I get error code 58.
Error code 58 says CPU self test failed or CPU cache error.

Anyone else have this before? is their a work around or is the board broke?

Not off to a great start....

is this on ln2 or just testing out the cpu/mb ?

just testing out the cpu mobo. Had the magehelan cooler on it thought maybe it was to tight flexin the board loosened it up still the same results. tried stock cooler with the fan connected same error.
Tried cmos too, about to pull the ram out of this rig since its a lower volt ddr3 than what I have been trying an see if that works.

Edit....
Just tried the ram an it made no differance. Did see their is 4 led's by the PSU plug an all are off except the DDR light which is blazing red. I tried 3 types of ram in it...blah
Just going to go exchange it tomorrow an hope for the best.

Did you try a little more vcore or vdim? What are your voltage settings?

I'm thinking I had code 58 and it turned out to be because I was switching ram. 45 and 58...I think. Mine eventually started working, it was just finicky about the ram

I have yet to see a post screen it hangs at 58 almost instantly. Im taking it back to microcenter.

I never got to see a post screen it went straight to the error rite out of the box.
My first DOA mobo. I did grab some ram today just in case that was the issue, 1866 patiot.
I will see later if any of the 4 types of ram I got will work. I hope my 2200mhz Supertalent work in it.

Mouse in a bios this is nutty this whole bios is nutty lol... 1155 is all greek to me use to x58 an prior platforms. Time for some installs.

I felt the same way about the bios. But once you get it set theres nothing else to touch except Multis/voltage/ram speed and ram timings. really simple. Like all the Asus boards the saving of multiple profiles is a plus. And dual bios of course.

I did it before on a gig ud5p67 at 100x56

On this asus gene-z I had to use 103.7x54 to finally to get 5.6 took hrs

But now I need more vcore but its on the ss was around -50's the whole time was tempted to use 1.8v+ to get x57-59 to boot but didn't :P

Havin a couple issues. ROG connect wont register bclock or the multi when i change it from the repote pc. It registers voltage increase I can see the vcore go up in cpu z but no bclock or multy.

Then when iI set vcore in bios it dont stick, once Im in windows an open cpuz 1.18 vcore when it should be 1.40. Guess I missed a disable an enable some where

Yea. Everyone will tell you. Don't waste your time with ROG on these. Do everything in the bios. My ROG dosn't work right either.

Dom...1.8 will kill your chip bro. Don't do it.

Everything started work by itself lol Then had a short spell of no usb's, then that went away.
i did have better results than this but didnt save anything

Use Tiny XP. 2 cores/2 threads, no hyperthreading for pi 32 bro. You'll get a better overclock too. ;)

Thanks Duke Ill remember that. For the most part i was just tinkering around learning the platform. I was running 5.5Ghz on the same voltage an ran all the 2d tests with no problems then she got temperamental an I said goodnight to her. I should be getting some Ln2 in the next few days.

Splave gonna rape the AMD 2d woot woot
