i been playing with some of the 939s i collected over the years, and i just have been wondering like if anyone on our team know any cool tricks about it?
cuz i can't seems to get it to do a damn thing pass 258mhz no matter what chip
i got 1 more chip to try it's a 3200+ Winchester (on it as we speak)
they all run pretty cool at 1.40~1.55v on the core and 3.55v on the ram
i already set the timing back to 2-4-4-8 so i don't see why it can't get close to some of the ppl that's on the bot

HT link is too high on both of those. It has to stay under 1000. No performance hit for anything between 650 and 1000, lower than 650 = SLOOOOW, Above about 1010 = unstable. ;)

thanks guys!!!!!
thanks mr.scott! didn't even see that hahaha
gonna give it another try when i get the test done tonight
here is all the rams i got...
CMX512-3200C2PT
CMX512-3200LLPT <- this should be a great clocker
GeIL PC4000 GL5124000DC <- think it's the same as http://hwbot.org/submission/2212312
got two of the GL5124000DCs they are 2 x 256MB
My motherboard is a DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR
Also is your mem capable of running 500MHz + at cas2?
2 of my sets should be stock at 500 @ Cas 2.5 :good:

You should do well with the DFI with most any chip you have - That is if the chip itself will go.
Just setup one of my 939's with a DFI Expert like yours and have it running H2O for now.
Set the HT speed no higher than 3X in the BIOS, this will help keep HT speeds under control. Some chips BTW CAN run a higher HT speed without a problem but that's not going to help you much if at all should you even try it, just keep it at or below 1000MHz at all times for stability as stated.
Normally voltages for 939's aren't much of an issue but be aware these chips tend to start scaling just after the 3.0 mark, this being based on the chip's core such as a San Diego. SD's will do that along with Toledo & Opty chips and the DC chips are kinda like Thubans in how they act.
If you can keep it cool an Opty should run fairly well but know that voltage & temp management is key to keeping it all running smooth and stable. Don't forget to keep the board's components cool too, DFI's themselves are fussy about temps.

did you think of Bsel mod ?
as i recall long time ago, there's a Bsel mod for s939.
And how about putting it under Dice or lnē ? With Vmods ?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?25690-DFI-rev-b-vcore-and-vdd-mods&postid=313475
give me pics of around you're socket, will look in to it for Vmod, also need the main VRM chips around you're socket, the model.

special thanks to Mr.Scott and Mr.Bones for answering most of my questions and important tips, now i should be good to go! almost :D just need to test out the GeIL rams still unsure what they really are

thanks bro, but my cam is broken has been send out for repair for 5 weeks now idfk what the hell they are doing with it......
i been googling the board don't seem to have a mod listed but there are BIOS mods tho

i don't really know what to look for tbh
i have only done SLI mod on intel boards that's all
btw i did the jumper but it's not letting me going up any higher than 3.2v tops
unless i am missing something

hahaha i didn't even know about that HT link stuff so don't feel bad
so here is how i tested out...
i been told the BH-5s will NOT boot at CL3 and TCCD will and the GeIL i have can boot at CL3 just fine
i monna test out the Corsair tomorrow i know that's BH-5s which that's confirmed
i am so excited about the upcoming breaks gonna just bench and do homework nothing more

After you move the jumpers, in the bios , in the voltages, there's a function that says something like "enable if over 3.2v". You have to enable that also. Then you should be able to select Vdimm up to 4.0v.
If you have trouble, I'll post pics of my board and bios to help you get through it.
You should also know that BH-5 will only work in the Yellow slots, and if you're only using 1 stick it has to go in the Yellow slot farthest away from the CPU, or it won't boot.
As for modded bios', the 623 bios is pretty freakin' good, second only to my own modded bios. Use the correct variation for the type of ram you'll be running.

If running an Ultra-D, you will need to move a jumper as Mr. Scott stated but the Expert doesn't need any jumpers moved and goes up to 4.0v's for RAM voltage in the BIOS - Mine does. :this:
With either board use the orange slots, not the yellow ones for best results with whatever RAM you use.

then my board is retarded!
i did both still don't have the option for 4.0 it's really pissing me off now...
don't have BH5 chip and board don't work right and i got nothing better to do right now other than being a slave and installing mac os on a dell xps for someone for $40 i am abou to pop someone
btw my board is a SLI-DL not a expert

If you can boot BH-5 in the orange slots you're doing better than most. Almost everybody I talk to including myself, can't.

I thought it was - my bad.
I know my board can be picky about what RAM I use in it - Some sticks do fine, some don't and it doesn't seem to be IC based. Some of my BH5's and TCCD sticks will work, some don't.
For example my OCZ PC4400's work great in it and the board seems to love 'em but my Corsair XMS PC4400's won't work and it mainly seems to be a Corsair "Thing" based on what I have.

getting ready to redo the BIOS to N4D704-2BT (BigToe Mod)
- based on 704-2
- removed all the CAS settings that don't work
- removed the added 0.1vdimm thats applied when you set TRCD to 2
- unlocked some unknown register options (A , B , C , E , D)
- Vcore bug of 704-X "removed" (123% and high
hope that works...
but yeah it's really balls breaking when i found out the ram is not BH-5 but CH-5 it pretty much ruined two of my days

I know that feeling.
I have two sets that are identical except for the version, Corsair PC3200 sticks with one set being V1.1's and the other being V1.2's.
The V1.1's are BH-5 and the V1.2's are CH-5 sticks, aside from that these sticks are identical to one another in appearance.

10-18-2011, 08:54 PM
yeah that's where i am standing....
v1.1 is BH-5 and v1.2 CH-5 and i got the CH-5 and the worst part is i give the dude $20 + 2 sticks of 1GB for it and CH-5 can't OC for crap

seems like unless i put 1.52+ on the core the 3.2+ will not show up

Mr.Scott

4v is a little overkill even for BH-5. I can get to 290 @ 2-2-2-5 on 3.7v

1 6500rpm asus 80mm fan
1 4500rpm mutant mods also 80mm
just for the single stick of ram
just flashed the bios to n4d623-3 looks the same @.@
but anyways...
about the ram and the voltage part i was wrong...
somehow the voltage on the cpu was set to 1.500 on accident all it really needed was not on AUTO then the DRAM will give you the option for 3.2+
