Well.. guess i'm here too now. Figure go where the action is. I got a one of kind pot made by otternase, and an inability to acquire LN2 at the moment (company wants me to get my dewar tested somewhere, but didn't specify where).. So anyone in chicagoland who might be able to help with that might be useful. Another place i can get it from i just don't happen to have a truck to take it home. And i still gotta talk to the other place about a rental on a 160-180L.

125$ at the regional place.. so about 1.50$ a L however i am going to have to rent a trailer from uhaul for 20$ or so to go get it filled up and bring it home, and get it out of a vehicle. I realized even if i had a friend with a truck, getting that thing out of the back of any truck will be a major difficulty (something like 260lbs full), however a motorcycle trailer with a drop down ramp aught to make it nice and easy. Just need to buy a hitch for my outback, and my friend recently purchase a ZX-14 and a 250 for his wife, so perhaps he'll have a cycle trailer i can use and skip out on the renting.. or go to a trailer place and buy one.

Thanks guys, the session went really well I was able to pick up 3 cups and 1 medal plus about 30+ points on hwbot. ^^ The board needed a bios update but held up well for the $75 I spent on it. The only real problem I had was running with the memory higher than 1500mhz.

Well.. guess i'm here too now.

That was my same thought when looking for a pot. I went with the Koolance CPU-LN2 Rev2 got it from profurmance-pcs.com saved around $20 since the Koolance site wanted to $20 web fee or something crazy like that. The only thing is the base is big, with my X58 I needed to move the pot away from the right side mosfets to get perfect contact. But on problems on the P55 or 750i.
This reviem helped me http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1190/1/

Hey guys :)
der8auer FusionPot rev2:
Changes compared to rev1:
10mm bigger diameter with 70mm in total
5mm higher base to provide less temperature ups and downs
New internal design for a easier cooldown with LN2 and lower temperatures using DICE
Bigger diameter on top for easier filling

der8auer DoubleImpact Pot
The idea was to create a very massive container to handle the heat of Fermi.
I've worked hard in the past few weeks to get these pots done.
First result:
The hole for the probe is very close to the GPU. So temperatures should be accurate.
Diameter in the middle of the pot is 40mm. Enough space for LN2/DICE.

http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/attachments/228715d1274200420-galerie-ln2-dice-container-img_0140.jpg
Because of the huge weight of 2850g i decided to change the layout of the container. So it can also be mounted on nearly all CPUs (Socket A, 939, 775, 1156, 1366, AM2(+), AM3).
And for sure polished :D

No, it's not too heavy for gpus :) You just have to support the card by putting something between pot and mainboard. Did so, too here: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/1037563_der8auer_3dmark_2003_geforce_8800_gt_512_m b_59874_marks

here's a secret kiki
the f1ee is still one of my fave pots ...i'd buy it back...with apurpose
1. that pot can be used without mounting hardware :D
2. it can still hold a gulftown without any sweat...
3. with glazing its fast also..
bottom line...i should have not sold it to yah LOL

I can't stand the detachable base. I was all the time picking it up at 1st and the base dropping off on me. I now have my armaflex taped around the base and shaft to prevent this.

I LOVE the rocket base .... so much less waste of ln2 and will hold GT just fine with a little trickle pour under load.
I have yet to try the slow base, since the rocket has done everything I needed it to very easily so far.
DrNip
10-19-2010, 03:23 AM
I love it too. Tried it both on LN2 and DICE and it pulls down temps quickly! I'm re-wrapping my painters tape and Arma-Flex today to hold the base on better. I also ran a bead of TIM between the base and shaft.

idk if you save any ln2 with the rocket base overall though. Its awesome to use half a liter and be down to -100c but I mean if you stop pouring even to up your clocks with rog connect you are dropping 5-10c! f1 and 32m pi I was folding laundry and keeping it between -115 to -120c. I need to play with the heavy more i think. 1 of my current chips CB is the same as the cbb so it would be great I think.

i'm studying the rocket base and my finding is that the holes are too deep.....i like the many hole design...but there is not enough mass at the bottom...if the rocket base holes were shallow-er ...it would be super.
the f1ee had more mass at the bottom compared to the slow base and rocketbase...
and yeah...1core for my i920 tears the pot up really easy...lol...rocketbase won't be used for ever....

Just sounds like a benching style disconnect to me.
The F1 is a "pour and leave it alone for a while" pot. Slow to drop, slow to rise. But that's what I hated about it in benches like 3D06. When running the razor edge in clocks and cold bugs (nehalem in particular), I couldn't pull it down fast enough for CPU1 test after firefly and you couldn't heat it up fast enough after CPU2 test before the ship. I love 3D06 because of those quick CPU tests stuck in the middle - it's a bench that's FUN to pour.
Rocket sounds more like my kind of pot. Babysitting the pot is a small price to pay for tighter control.

once the f1 has been cold for a while its fast enough for me. rocket needs some b'b's or something. that or rom needs to fly over and pour for me haha
weird thing is, 1 980x's is -150cb on rocket and -125 on f1 figure that out.

06 is the hardest ..i agree...but if you're adjusting profiles and only have 2 hands..the rocket base makes it just more tedious. if you have a pourer..you're good..but benching alone its just farking difficult.

This is the first and only pot I've made so far.
I made it from scraps and stuff I was able to snag at work and it actually works decently, just not as well as the pro-made pots you guys use and not nearly as pretty either I admit.
As for the height, I did that on purpose to help control accidental acetone boilovers, the extra height and the fact the tube gets wider in diameter towards the top really helps with that. No, I haven't used it but a couple of times since I made it and it's mounted to this day on the board pictured with it.
DICE for me isn't exactly easy to get since I must drive 60+ miles round trip just to get it and that's alot of expense just to use it at all with the price of gas nowadays. Anyway, here it is and at least I do have one if I ever decide to use it again one day.
As for LN2, forget that - I'd have to go even further and I don't even own a dewar or anything like that for LN2.

Whats up kiki son, glad to see you again bud!
The pot is just a Koolance V2 with the nickel base sanded down to the copper for maximum response using DICE.
Its sucks using it with motherboards that have really close caps around the cpu socket since the base is huge, makes you double check for good mounts. But with the 1366 it holds temps very well.

Probrably would but I'm not sure if it's any good for LN2.
Works at least for DICE but eats it up for breakfast - I mean it's one of those pots that will really eat it up in a hurry at first but once chilled, it's not bad. Has a 3/4 inch thick aluminum base so it's probrably a good coldbug pot but not as good as copper obviously. The tube and base are bonded with JB Weld and that's why I'm not sure if LN2 would work, I don't know how well that stuff would withstand the really cold temps before it has a problem.
It holds up fine though with DICE so no concerns about that. :good:

Figured I'd set it up again and let it run a little.
Posting with it now as a dry pot and temps although high (Expected) are remaining stable. Have it underclocked and undervolted of course but that won't be the case once the real action starts.
I'm thinking I may as well get ready to move up a league and be done with it - At least I won't need to worry about pics with entries once that's done. For now at least I'm still strictly H2O and depending on how well the pot actually works & the results, will decide if I do move up or just stay where I'm at.
I'll be giving it another round of testing before too long.
