Thanks buddy - Not sure what happened to this one...one day no video or boot. This happened months ago btw...just came across the chip under some rubble and figured I had better get to it lol.

Yeah calling them they get mad at you.

I had to send mine to north carolina or tennessee or something (not an english speaker either) who assummed I know nothing about tech.

Well I was trying to run a 500 FSB on a Q6600 but they dont need to know that :)(on air in a case)

Yea they act like they're giving up their first child when you ask for a new chip.

Don't think they asked for a receipt, but they do want to know the code on the HSF. Usually, IME, it's "DELTA". They have always had me send back the HSF with the chip.

Worth a try though, tell them you bought them from Microcenter as OEM chips

I will give it a whirl, I have some HSF but not sure what chip they go to as I was buying used one's as well .....

Thanks guys - A little tedious with the chat function, but rma was approved after every line on the cpu and hsf was recorded lol. Will be on it's way to Louisville KY later this afternoon. ;)

Hmmm...I have an AMD 1100T cpu with similar problems. Wonder what luck I would have with it? I am not the original purchaser with that one.

AMD site is the pits for rma...they don't even list the 1100T cpu. Probably could'nt get it done anyway...bought it second-hand.

Depends on who you get. Sometimes they'll ask for the HSF number, sometimes they won't. Sometimes they'll ask you to ship the HSF back, sometimes they won't.

Last time I RMA'd it was 2X655K's simultaneously. The guy was no fool, either. "Hmm...you want me to replace TWO 655K's for being faulty? And this is on top of the TWO 980x's you've returned in the last 2 months? Our research shows that an extensive RMA's is typically due to user error....." Nonetheless, I told him the chips were faulty and are under warranty, regardless of what some research shows.

I don't RMA anymore, though. In truth, I AM using the hardware outside of specs. :)

I suspect Patch that AMD is another animal when it comes to rma. I won't have any paperwork or invoices to provide either.

that's why you make a new email acc so when you do need to rma you just change them arround :P

Nah Ive done it a few times....

save yourself the trouble though and pay the extra 25 bucks and get an advanced RMA so they just ship you another then you ship your bad one back in same box man... thats what I did with my 980 when it died.

Intel rma went painless as usual...980X inbound. :) The AMD side is considerably slower...they take about a week to respond to an email, but there is movement on the 1100T.

Probably put this back to use as a gamer. Still going through AMD's drawn out process of emails for rma of the 1100T.

Ran the email gauntlet of AMDland...rma approved and the 1100T is now on it's way to shakey California.
