View Full Version : Back to School Benchfest (Sept)
Patch

August is out and the Dog Days of Summer are gone. :wv:
Everybody get out there and bench!
Kids are back in school and I have a week off with nothing much to do.
I'm also excited that I finally figured out why I've had such a craptastic time overclocking GPU's lately. My vaunted Antec 1200W HCP sucks smelly green eggs. I may be a bit dense, but eventually even I figured out that 2 580 Lightnings, a 580 Matrix, and a CUII couldn't ALL have a wall around 1300........ Switched it out for the Corsair 1200 and the un-overclockability magically disappeared.
My first September submission won't knock any socks off, but it's something to start with.

Nice! So glad the dog days of summer are gone. We had 60 days of 100 degrees or more here!!! Yesterday was the last day.

Yeah, not sure what to do with it now....it's now a high end daily rig PSU that's completely worthless for my purposes.
Found the real limit to the first lightning. This one gives a more typical "GPU only" OCP at more than 1.54v (card stuck at 0.3v unless power off cycle). I'll do the OCP mod if one of my other cards doesn't clock better. Not ready to lose a card to true overcurrent until I've had a chance to do a little 4-way action.

I will be back in action late Octotober early november if all goes according to plan.
I am all set to go cold, is it wother it with sandy on the CPU and being I am mod iliterate is LN2 to cold for 580's with out modification ???

:clapping: Splave!
WD, LN2 is not too cold for an unmodded 580. Just have to have some form of cold slow/bug BIOS - there are many options.
Memory needs tending to deal with lower than -150, but that's a lot of headroom of clocking colder than DICE.

Thanks for the tips Patch, much appreciated as I am a cold juice noob
Any insight to what would be a good cold bug BIOS for an eVGA vinnila ?
Next gen I am waiting out for the Lightning version to be released ..........
