Been doing some gaming here of late, lots of fun for sure, anyone who is into some Nascar racing, let em know, I will hook you up with everything you need to get rolling as well as well as sever and TS info

Wheel is required, conroller just does not have what it takes for door to door racing.

Any who,

Just checking in here, My life has taken a turn for the better I guess,

Just settled with my ex-wife and will be finally getting my equidy out of my home of 15 years.

So now the search for home sweet home begins and this little apartment will soon be a memory I am hoping.

Looking to find something sort of new as I am not into starting out in a fix er upper for the third time in my life....

Looking to take a very similar approach to Patch and having my benching equipment in the garage for easy acces, and LN2 delivery, as well as here in the north east the winter season can be exploited and is all that and a big bag of chips for low condensation cold benching.

I bench now in the basement, and with Dice and single stager it is fairly easily accessable, but with the plan to being going cold with 2011, I am to dam old to be lugging 30 and 50 liter dewars up and down steps all the time and if all goes well may take Gerry's approach of automatic deleivery ............

Saw a few intreiging properties over the weekend.

So the hunt begins...........

I will be around for sure, but benching stuff is getting packed up soon...I am looking forward to getting set up and with all your guys help competing at a high level in the league ........

Damn doc, I got 10+ years on ya and I'm doing it ? umm.. only 4 stairs admittedly  And that 50 is a killer!!! I have to lift it up sideways and turn it upright just to get it into the car ... now THAT'S killer :P

Congrats on the good news, really glad to hear things are looking up for ya

Thanks guys,

called a friend today to see what building new would cost. for those of you that don't know I am in the construction industy.

I was expaining to him what I was looking for and he sent this to me, possibly workable with a few minor floor plan changes, this is about the square footage I am looking for.... AKA low maintanence ... around 1200 to 1400, He also has a Lake front lot he can part with and put this plan on it for just under 200K ....

I would plumb it and install the HVAC system of corse

Looking at this hard, you guys think that is reasonable, have been out of the house hunting market as a customer for as long time

Thinking the garage for the bench station and the study for for the gaming domain........

Not very well layed out for home theater though, but would be able to pre wire prior to drywall for some by polar rear and side channels

The way property values have dropped i think that you could get something just as good and really cheap if you shop around. Although under 200k and on lakefront property sounds like a super deal. Is that a full basement or a slab? If it's slab i'd say the price is about 50k too high. Another thing to consider is if its stick built or a kit.

Witchdoctor

Yea it is with a basment option, No kits in Lancaster PA bro ........

home of the amish, they are tax exempt and build cheaper than they can in a factory,

going rate for amish framers around here is under 4 bucks a foot. and the quality would rival some of the best in the country.

Drywallers get around 3.75 a sheet to hang and 4.25 to finish ....

I put plumbing start to finish in homes like this for 6K and heatpumps for $ 5500.00

gas forced air with AC for $ 6200.00

I would spend some extra money on clean mill work as all they put in these places anymore is finger jointed paint grade stuff, so if you want to stain your screwed,

cabinets are not the best but for coming out a a box they are outstanding.

To bad Bren does't live around here, his millwork craftsmanship is insane ..... need to find a guy like that if I go in this direction ....

I do agree it is a tad high for the sqaure footage but lots off the lake are about 8K cheaper ....

Under 4 bucks a sq ft is insane. And no way in hell i'd hang sheerock for 3.75 and finish for 4.25. Loool , Hell i couldn't even think i could survive on that kind of cash. I'd probably get around 12k to rock and paint that. Whats the sq footage? Whats the outside finished with?

Gotta remeber the Amish are tax free ,,, so 4 bucks a foot is about 5.35 for a regular framing contractor ...

1300 and change .... yea it is a low incom area and most of the drywall cantrators here are illegals, Most drywall companies have either went to that labor or went out of business.

not sure what paint goes for these days but if I go this way I would pay extra for a good painting contractor as you know a good painter can hide a multitude of sins ....

drywall work is very poor indeed, durabond two coat is the typical here.
cheap waterd down paint..... been in some homes that you can literally rub off the paint with your finger .... sad state of afairs

the strong suit of this area is Framing & millwork ...

mechanical contractors cough cough ....... That's me

Thanks Scott, PA for work? that's a lot of deisle to get here my friend .... :)

You will do well if you demand they hang that sheetrock with drywall screws instead of nails. ;)

Congrats Witch!

As for the floor plan, the family room minus the optional windows and optional fireplace would make a decent setup for a LARGE flat screen witha desktop underneath for gaming.

That way you can have your home theater and gaming room all in one.heavy curtains work as well, and darker colored room paint will all help for that.

Wiring pre-drywall is sooo nice..

Make sure you wire up based on future needs. If you are going to have a home server somewhere out of the way... you could even setup up HDMI/AV/KVM/USB cables in the walls for remoteing into it or using it as your HTPC as well.

Also might be worth dropping in some empty conduit for simple future cable runs :)

Monoprice has some good deals on inwall HDMI cables :)

Good luck. The housing market is on your side. Interest rates or low. With the recent economy my home value has dropped stupidly. My lakefront property value hasn't done to bad though. It's decreased a few thou. But nothing major.

For instance, i was talking to a friend yesterday and he was telling me about some condos in florida. They originally went for 400k and now they're selling for 95k. Developers can't get rid of them. They alll built when the market was screaming. They couldn't put them up fast enough. So they doubled their crews and just cranked them out without buyers. Figuring on huge profit. Now they're stuck with them. Sucks to be them.

The south is just rediculous .... we took major hits here as well, but florida is basically a write off for anyone who had their neck out in the crash .....

yea with the options I wanted the house came to 211K

told the dude I would think about it for a while and offered him 190K a block off the lake , 60K being cash if I had a responce by weeks end, so we will see if they want to play ball, really depends on how bad they want to get off the lots as they are paying intrest on them,

so everyday it is cutting into their bottom line

They seemed pretty stout, but offered up some ameneties for penies on the dollar

let the games begin .............
