I'm wrapping things up and getting ready to finish getting everything for my build. About the last thing I need is an OS. I'm considering just getting a technet subscription. Is there any valid reason why I wouldn't just get a technet sub and by an OEM disk? I take it they OS keys are good forever?

I don't know how it really works. Do they issue you keys that are only good for that 12 month period? I would have to think so because otherwise you could just get what you want then dump the subscription. I personally have no use for it as I have just about every OS and Office there is to buy. Some are cracked but those are for benching.

Not sure and that's why I am asking. I don't want to dump 200 on what looks like an awesome deal to just get screwed in the end if I don't renew. I'm looking at this for 24/7 usage first and availability for benching second.

You get 10 keys per OS, it is very much worth it. They are just like retail keys and do not expire. I'm saving to renew my sub.

Go any relatives at uni?
Just get keys off of MSDNAA, apparently office is going up there soon, I'm looking forward to it since I don't want to have to pay for it.
If you want I can get you one if it comes to it :p

not sure the differnces between the sub plans... no need to buy a disc though.. the plan should include a digital DL unless I misunderstood your question.

Yeah, it's all digital downloads, you have to pay extra for disks if you want them.
