Well, its been a while since I've seen the qx9770 actually working. Last time I tried to use it, I got a straight FF on the 790i Ultra SLI mobo.

The beggining of the trouble started when running the QX9770 on water with the 790i FTW motherboard and a vreg burnt up in smoke. More than likely it took the $1500 processor with it.

Today, I figured I'd give it another go. So far I get the top portion of the boot screen and when it hits the cpu ID section of the boot screen it reboots. So basically, I'm getting a reboot cycle.

I'm trying different ram modules now to see if I can coax her back to life. 90% sure its a gonner :argh:

Suckos. Maybe intel is out of rma stock and has to send you a i7 965 for replacement :D

Heh, then I'd have to switch to Nehalem 4 sure

Yep its frucken toasties. Looks like my everyday rig will be a qx6850 + 790i Ultra SLI + 2x8800ultras + Areca Raid + 850w Silverstone + Creative x-fi Extreme (Actually a pretty handsome setup all on water).

Time to turn my attention to the REX+9650+Red Team. Nehalem is getting closer for supes.

Step on the gas brudder. :trophy: Ya know I've been wondering how the REX handles quads. It seems that the only cpu used on it is dualies.

you might want to try some of the electric circuit board cleaner... that stuff brings MOST things back to life unless its electrically damaged =p
