Might have sold my 4890. It was benched and is just a gamer now. Don't see me getting a GPU POT anytime soon, so off it goes.

Looking for a benching first/gamer second card. I know I won't get an equivalent gamer at that price... but I have seen 5770's going pretty cheap on forums. $85/90 shipped.

Looking for recommendations. Based on bointability as well as general cool running case performance.

Don't care what camp, although based on price used ATI is probably where I will end up. The only 200 series card that was near a 4890 is the 285 IIRC, and I'm just trading one hot loud card for another.

460 is an upgrade I believe but falls to far out of the $100 used range :(

100 is a guideline. $120 would be doable if it massively outperforms a 5770.

Thanks in advance for any tips suggestions.

Boint wise yes... gaming wise no. 285's are 180+ on completed listings. 260s are cheaper (between 80 and 120) but, 275 is weaker than a 4890 but a substantial margin and still costs more. (150)

if going green, I will go 460. its not much of an upgrade.. and costs twice as much as a 5770... boints are less too thanks to manufacturers making crazy versions that I can not afford LOL. unfortunately, those are new prices and it is too new to get a used one cheaper. (not enough to make me buy used)

That might be what I have to do...

OCM... yea hthe hawk is one of those cards that demands a premium that far out weighs its usefullness. IMHO. I dont have water or GPU pot. so it would be wasted on me :(

TBH I am not sure the 460 is any better. I would rather take my chances modding a $80-95 5770.

5770 is a beast of a card for hardware points and is a reliable gamer at 1680x1050

It struggles at 1900x 1200 with eyecandy and for teselation it is less than stellar.

Never had one but have read an awful lot about them as I will need one soon for some hardware goodness.

My cutting edge tech budget has taken a huge hit due the the construction industry taking a dump in PA .....

Wish things were different and I was holding a 580 in my pocket... unfortunatly just not the case .... :ohcrap:

Girlfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said a Newegg gift card ..... LOL

I have enough ties ..............

5770 = WIN from my prespective
