LOL yup. Nightmare. I use electric motor cleaner from pep boys $5 for a big as can. Gets 2-3 mobos dimm slots clean plus around socket.... Rubber eraser and vaseline = gunk..

Heck man I use that shit on everything. Its like Acetone but not as damaging.

(EDIT: Talking about cleaning up after wards not as as an insulate..)

title should be
vaseline=nightmare rofl ;)

I hate it, gave us so many issues at MOA. Kept throwing ram erros

Did you put vaseline into the RAM slots? o.0

Do you also put it into the CPU socket?

vaseline isn't conductive...if yu had ram errors...it was prolly the rams.

steponz will use vaseline his sr2 i heard...lol

the ram slots have many contacts..that when cold can attract condensation....my current bench setup right now has 10kilos of vaseline :D

Okay :D

Did you ever try "plastic" insulation? I put clear paint (called Plastik70) on my hardware so there is like an protective film and condensation has no influence :) For sure that's no solution for things like RAM or CPU socket but good for e.g. your graphics card.

I use vaseline all the time now, especially in DIMM's. Everywhere but the CPU socket.

Sometimes don't have contact, but a little wiggle fixes that. Only problem is recognizing that as the problem.

I benched for 5-6 hours last night in 100% humidity (raining outside) with CPU, GPU, RAM and NB under LN2. Dripping water everywhere, but none of it affected the hardware.

Sounds like i have to try that, too. Thanks for these infos

Hondas looks good! Then grease up teh back of your tape on the sticky side and seal off the socket for completely air tight pcb.
Eraser sucks, when will this junk go the way of the dinosaurs.

I cant stand how messy that shit is, made me cringe seeing that pic honda lol no offense mate :D

The dow corning 4 stuff is epic though, it wipes off with a paper towel with zero residue ftw! Its like non messy vaseline. Hazzan and ecky ftw

Holy shat it is expensive! So tell me about this again. Goes on like vaseline without the mess at clean up? Same anti-condensation properties?

not too bad, you use like a teaspoon for the whole backside of the lightning 480. Before I was heating the pcb, I tried this stuff with nothing on the backside and water was dripping and there was frost everywhere and card never shorted :D

Wipes right off with cotten swabs, its not greasy, not sure if its petroleum based but its like more waxy than anything. Would be like smearing chapstick on your counter than wiping it off with a towel.
