I always have a flash drive in and save to that instead of HDD.

NTFS recover has been the best for me...

It does not recover file names though so can be a real pita to deal with.

I boot up with another hdd and grab the files off the borked one. Is the shit hdd just an OS corruption or like fully dead?

Yeah if the OS is just corrupt plug the HDD into another PC and snag what ya want off it.

I wish

just a data drive with 2 partitions for my OS bench drives witch are SSD's and it does not even show up ....... takes like 15 minutes for the system to boot when it is just connected ? tryied it in my grinder as well with the same result .........
Can this software deal with drives that are not detected by the OS or the BIOS for that matter as it does not show up their either ......... effin dead as a door nail

WD 500GB Black = FAIL

Drive is only a year old ......... POS

You have two choices.

Freezer method (put it in an airtight bag... first)

Or find the exact same HDD (down to firmware) and try swapping pcbs.

Yikes !!!

No Honda ....

had three independent drives

one for win7 and one for XP

this drive was partitioned in half to carry all programs and staorage for each opertating system

All I did is install a new OS .... All was kool installed bare minimum up[dates and benches ......... rebboted and bam it was gone with out a trace ..... now any computer it is hooked to won't even boot

Joey,

No go on the recovery software ......... found all my good drives ...... LOL

this suck big time ..........

looing at setting up a mirror ....... just have to bite two drives now ...... an 500 hours of downloads ...... :ohcrap:

Any sugestions .... Supes was saying his Seagates were dropping like fly's some time back and WD can suck my dick ......... Sammy ? Hatachi ?

Can't swing a massive SSD or I would say good bye to mechanicals for life

The pain of it all ....... wish I was benching instead of dealing with shit ......

I have only had problems with WD once (a raptor) and thats what 90% of my drives have been over the last 5 years. (from greenpowers to vRaps)

Before that I was using hitachis as they were king of the perf/price coop, but everyone claimed they had epic fail rates too (no issues)

Before that I was using Maxtors (staples purchases) and only had one of them that died... well I was a n00b and shorted it... heh heh

IF you try the freezer trick play with the software first.
Put it in the freezer in an air tight (air removed bag) for an hour pop it into the system. If it is a mechanical issue that might bring it back to life.

I have successfully recovered files off of two dead drives... the other 3 (none where mine) nothing worked. I have never done the PCB flip, just what I saw recommended.
