Splave, the bb code for embedding the youtube videos is (<----correctly spell youtube]

So you take everything aftger the "=" in the youtube link "Z2VdSWktL_g" and place it between the youtube tags:

Z2VdSWktL_g and it will show your video embedded on the forum.


The resolution used for the video is a bit too tinsy tiny and I'd love to hear your San Fran man voice giving a narrative ;)

rofl, yeah you have to go to the youtube link pick 480p or 720p then full screen it to see. Its hard because you need the higher resolution to show it so best to go to the link to see it in full screen

I have had the best results with CDT...IV showed me nothing but wasted time/effort.

I use the OCXSPITweaker...it does it's thing automatic. I have yet to try a manual waza. TBH, I think once you find the sweet spot for the freq/mem you can do no wrong. When I get in the spot I can repeat runs exactly multiple times back to back. The key seems to be throwing in a variable from time to time to shock the process and cause a reaction...hopefully a positive one. Yep...it's all about voodoo. :taunt:

Wazza CDT is basically copying 3 times.... (makes 3 actios)
cdt swaps back and forth between 3 parts. Spitweaker asks for only 2 partitions, so I am assuming it just swaps back and forth between the two.

....if you are too lazy (like me) or do not feel like making the files for wazza, you can have spitweaker make them for you. run spitweaker the 1st run, then after that, the files are already there. All you have to do is drag/drop. wazza done! :thumbsup:

CDT-IV

Example where second partition is D: and pi partition is C:

- make two folders waza and waza2 on second partition. In this case d:\waza & d:\waza2

1. create waza files in d:\waza
2. copy d:\waza folder to c:\ for three times (overwrite)
3. copy d:\waza folder to d:\waza2 for three times (overwrite)
4. copy c:\waza to d:\waza for three times (overwrite)

This Process can take significant more time as normal CDT or classic WAZA

Forgot to add to the video, once you close all windows at the end of the wazza wait for your HDD light to stop blinking then start. Sorry!

According to my understanding, you need to bring available memory and system cache as close to as possible before you start your superpi run....

Yes for the long run you want them as close as possible, but getting the memory usage wayyyy down of all the programs will help bring your first iteration lower giving you a nice little boost on final score.

Yeah I always wondered why my initial values were poor...

Looking at my HWBot results, it is always I have worse initial value but better looptimes in my area of pi efficiency.

Not saying that is good or bad, as I am never near the top dogs anyway...

Just realized my stripped XP even has themes stripped.....gonna have to reinstall with a different version and get SP3.


Any problem using quick launch bar? I don't like using any desktop icons, but I love using the quick launch bar when benching.


Edit: LOVE the manual method over the spitweaker. Distinctly reproducable benefits.

Anything magic about your target spi memory usage of 250ish?

I've been using a 3.1 GB "new OS files" file that I keep on my benching stick. Transferring it 7 or 8 times gets my mem usage down to about 180 and it improves the score. Minor improvements, albeit. Haven't had the patience to try to get it lower than 180 yet......

Oddly I get down to 44K usage with OCX. Just tried the BenchTec ToolBox and it pulled 88K. All of this is good info for all members like myself learning the ways of SPI...Thanks to all! :)

hehe, I can get mine down to 36k... problem is, if you click anything other than "ok" on spi, it will jump up to 500-700k instantly. The system is already "balanced" though, so no need to worry about the jump. ;)

Made a single run with the BenchTec ToolBox. It appears to work ok but the copy wazza size box is greyed out...I have contacted Mutant for some support. He also has some PiFast link but have been unable to get it to run.

A reply about the wazza bar from the forum :

"CDT uses a fixed file size at the moment, as it is slightly more complex than standard wazza and needs a few differently sized files. The ability to change the main file size in CDT would be possible as the other file sizes are linked by ratios."

(Think he meant "impossible" instead of "possible")
