The following pictures are of the Aluminium Pot built and designed by Travis Jank a.k.a. V2_V3 of Nexgen Consulting. I have a previously purchased copper pot desinged by another person next to the alu-pot for size comparison. Included in the photos are the accessories/mounting kit provided by Jank.

Testing will begin when I find a working motherboard and prep it. My 790i FTW analog has perished. http://www.overclockaholics.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Had a pretty good run once I worked out some bizarre behavior at the 7th hour of benching.

Here are some frosty pics. So far I like how this post is performing. I don't have a working temp probe right now so I can only base temps on general bios readouts.

Enjoy the frostys for now http://www.overclockaholics.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Being that I'm late and members have been waiting so long for info on the Supes Dubbed "JankPot" I'm gonna spit out info gathered so far. Later, I'll make it all nice and presentable.

I'm pretty sure I had a bad mount and spread of ceramic on the cpu due to the slight shortness of the fastening screws, it was difficult to start the threads. Keep in mind that Travis rigged up a custom mount on the spur of the moment as he was actually sold out of pots when I asked for one.

So with a poor mount I was able to obtain -68c on the E8400 dual core at stock voltage/speed. Using the other beheomoth copper pot I have, I get round -71c. Again, this most likely due to a poor mount.

At around 1.75vcore I saw -42c in the bios while it read 1.71vcore. Still, I was able to run my max fsb on this 790i Ultra SLI board 600x9 for 5.4ghz, bench stable.

One thing I noticed was that this pot doesnt suck down as much dry ice as the copper pot. I used just enough acetone that it was approximately 2mm deep from bottom of the pot, not counting the drill out holes at the bottom. I also crushed the DICE as much as possible prior to placing in the pot.

I wanted to use this pot on my 790i FTW Analog Edition but opted for the Ultra board because the Jankpot Mount interfered with the water cooled Vregs on the FTW board. The bolt down plate encroaches on the chipset block and vregs just a weeee bit too much for comfort.

All in all, I'm pleasantly surprised by the performance of the "Jankpot" and feel that anyone who picks this pot up for the low price of $75 or so will also feel like they've hit the "JankPot" and be a winner.

The pot itself has a very small footprint and actually is much easier to work around. The mating surface of this pot is perfectly sized for socket 775 processors. I'm fairly certain that 1366 users will need a "JankPot II" revision to sufficiently cover the 1366 processors. Comparing the towering lug of a copper pot I have and many others build, this little alu-pot is easier on the mobo because its much lighter.

I'm sure Travis can easily extend the mounting screws by about 2mm to make mounting much easier.

I'm in need for one of those temp probes and will be giving the pot a run at the 9770 if it still lives http://www.overclockaholics.net/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

Thanks to Travis Jank a.k.a. V2_V3 for providing me the opportunity to take a run at his affordable cpu pot. http://www.overclockaholics.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

That's the best part about benching is when the frost first forms on the top ring of the pot.

I can't wait to have something like that to play around with! Got alot of learning to do first though before I attemp anything like that.

Awesome pics Supes.... I know what is frosting up the pot, but what is flowing in the lines on the GPU to frost it up like that??

That Jeffro, is a Liquid Cooling System comprised of a modified air conditioner evap (part of ac that gets cold) submerged in a cooler with an anti-freeze/water mix and then pumped out from the cooler @ -42c thru -25c into the gpu waterblocks, chipset nb block and back again.

Prior to obtaining cpu pots and dry ice, I tore apart one of my older air conditioners and made a chiller, home brew style. An overclockers gotta do what an Overclockers gotta do :D

If you scoll down you will find a link for Vince's email. You can get a price for an F1E which is the best pot out there for both DICE and LN2. Depending on copper prices you could expect to pay around $340 to $380. I will be ordering one of these pots soon. Also, you could borrow Supes copper DICE pot.

From time to time, some pot makers post their LN2 pots on ebay. You kinda just gotta watch for it but don't pick up a crappy pot for a ton of money. Take a close look at the pics and research the builders pot threads at various forums.

Holy SHIT! You're really gonna save some bucks heading straight to the LN2 benching, u da man! Just remember to get the swing of it on air just before hooking up the ln2 stuff. Gotta watch for cold bugs and cold boots around -100c or so, once into windows or running u can pour more LN2 or so I've read, lol. :trophy:

LOL.... I won't jump in quite that fast, I'll start with air most likely to get to know the system and move up from there and adding hardware along the way. I might start off with some really sad benches but i'll be learning more that way... might go threw air, water and DICE before I hit the LN2... If I can wait that long.:D

Well, a solid performing water loop will prolly run you alot of money rather than just picking up a decent pot and stopping by the grocer for extreme bench sessions. I dunno, I think ur doing it right by planning for the innevitible extreme stuff.

Wise words padawan. I just run air for daily stuff and to get a feel for the board and then slap the pot on to have a good time. Atleast skip the water stage and buy a quality pot. You could easily go over the cost of a Kingpin pot and a good deal on a dewar if a watercooling addiction developed.

Jeffro64
04-09-2009, 07:17 PM
Well..... it's gonna be more for the fun of doing it than anything else. I'm not rich but I can do it a little at a time. Water stuff here... a pot there, it won't take too long.

I gotta do a little research on water stuff and see whats the best out there and how to put it all together LMAO.... It will be the first time for any of this stuff but i'm havin fun!

Well it really depends on what you wanna put under water. If it's just the cpu and just for benching then don't waist your money on anything other than the swiftech or hwlabs rads. If you might put multiple things on water or might use it 24/7 go ahead and get the Feser or Black Ice Xtreme rads. For just a CPU loop you MAY see a 1-3c difference in temp but a huge price difference. The Feser/Black Ice are more expensive because the are double pass rads. The Feser has the widest fan spacing of the mix so you can run slower/quieter fans on it with no performance loss.

For CPU blocks, EK, Swiftech GTZ, or Dtek. All have their perks. GPU blocks I would only use EK, Danger Den, or Koolance. GPU blocks are quiet spendy but if you are the type to hold on to the hardware then go for it. You will see higher overclocks on the vga's with watercooling.

Jeffro if you need help with water cooling parts picking or assembly just let me know! I for one can understand the fun of watercooling and enjoying a good 24/7 overclock while maintaining good temps with low noise levels.

You are our resident watercooling addict! Jeffro just keep in mind that asking hellcamino about watercooling parts can be as expensive as supes sig. J/K If you wanna get watercooling parts hellcamino will help u set up a loop that performs. Just dont mention swiftech to him :D

Thanks guys!!! That will be a huge help....HUGE!

I know I would want the CPU and GPU/GPU's covered in the loop for sure... Not sure on what else if anything. On the GPU is it better to go with something pre done like the 285 HydroCopper from EVGA or buy the cards and blocks separate? And I guess the Rad and pump I go with depends on how big the loop will be... Right?

Chuchnit
04-10-2009, 06:21 AM
Well it's cheaper sometimes to buy the hydrocopper. Why don't you start a thread so we can continue this discussion and go back on topic here.
