Do I need to defragment my Intel® Mainstream Solid-State Drives (using Windows* Disk Defragmenter* or similar program)?
No. SSD devices, unlike traditional HDDs, see no performance benefit from traditional HDD defragmentation tools. Using these tools simply adds unnecessary wear to the SSD. It is recommended that you disable any automatic or scheduled defragmentation utilities for your Intel SSD.
From what I understand, if the drive supports TRIM, then Win7 should keep them nice and tidy. If not, the only way to fight degradation in drive speeds is to keep an image backup and wipe them every so often.

OCZ has an app called wiper.exe that does the exact same thing as TRIM but is manually instigated. I believe most companies do.
Surprisingly no companies that I have seen offer a good secure erase. I finally DL'ed Gparted and use that when I could not get hdderase to work right.

OK, so I have two Intel X-SSDs, which have been used before in a 3 drive RAID0 (one got sparked by static and died when I got stupid and didn't ground myself before I touched it - I actually felt the freaking jolt :shock: :ohcrap:)
Do I need to do anything in particular before or after I load the OS again on the new machine? When I create the RAID, and then the partition, is it essentially a clean slate?

go into intel matrix storage manager (CTRL+I) and delete the raid volume.... then create a new one ;)

Thanks Shannon. I thought that would do it, but I wasn't sure if SSDs required anything different.
