Think lowclock 2d test.
Imagine winning an Asus Formula p55 board (with eraser insulation), an Intel 670 cpu capable of 6.5GHz+, a brand new OC edition Antec 1.2Kw psu, an Asus 5870 gpu, a set of pi black cas 7 Ram, an OCZ 60gb SSD. Oh and now a kingpin "Fatboy" gpu pot and a Koolance cpu pot to make it all go INSANELY FAST.

You need a GTX 480 to get decent efficiency in SuperPi 32M & wPrime, PiFast on the other side prefers an old PCI card ( think Matrox, S3, Tseng Labs )

Actually space shuttles/aircrafts do run on primitive hardware, (though the cost still run into millions) because 100% stability is the concern and the exorbitant cost is just for absurd level of quality checks.

I think its only fair to give you guys a few details right now.

There will be a maximum speed of somewhere between 4-5GHz and we will allow only water or air on the board/cpu. As for hardware restrictions, you will be able to use any cpu/mobo/ram/gpu combo you wish as long as it is only ambient cooled and your cpu does not exceed our limit. All of you will also be required to use our desktop background and have a photo of your bench rig with the monitor with that desktop in the background. We will have run sims with our best iterations, so we will know what to look for to keep everyone flying straight...not that we feel it will become an issue with our boys, but this is a big deal and we realize whats at stake.
Also there will be TWO benchmarks and your scores will be added, so the lowest overall time takes the trophy. To mix it up, we will be offering a added prize for the overclocker who holds the top spots the longest during the contest, so don't sandbag or procrastinate. I will expand on all of the details on Sunday.:thumbsup:

On AMD I used the plastic socket as the hold down when running hte jank pot. I put it over the existing hold down and rand the bolts down to the backplate rather than up through the hold downs.

mobo tab and an instance of Real Temp along with your SuperPi 8M or PiFast result.

Might want to specify (not that any of our bros or hoes would cheat, but specifying means efficiency results .01%...) that realtemp should be running through out? So you can see high and low... and all that stuff. Or is it just load up afterwards?

I will start off tomorrow on my ASrock X58 extreme for giggles...kinda interested to see if I can push it. Just want to make sure its a "legal submission"

"ambient" to us means your standard living environment temperatures. We expect to see temps in the low 30c's and up. We do not want to crowd your processes for SPi especially, so you do NOT have to run real temp thru your test, just before you screenshot.

Also got links up on contest thread for SPi 1.5, PiFast, CPUZ and Real Temp to be used....and who is eligible to compete! GOOD LUCK TO ALL MY BROS!!!

Listen up doods...voltage is only as important as your heat concerns.
I think the key to winning this is TIGHT ASS RAM, highest possible uncore or fsb, and tweaks to your os. You have to learn how to bench these tests to win this fight...pifast being the much easier of the two.

FYI Banik, in the RealTemp folder there is a RealTempGT.exe, which will give temps for all 6 cores.

Core temp reads between 30 and 40C idle for me in a poor flow case.

After much discussion, we have decided to address the "ambient" temp issue.
It doesn't feel fair to penalize anyone for living in a cold environment, although I don't believe that any of our members live in a 50f degree house. ;) goat.
So we have decided that ac blowing directly on your bench rig or radiator (chilled water) is ok TO A POINT. Therefore NO submissions with a temp of lower than 15c on any core will be accepted. No warming up your system before a screenshot. Please do not f' up this contest by trying to gain an unfair advantage. Any of you can win this with good overclocking technique and a little patience. Carry on.
