Yeah thats what I have been working on too... on X58 :) (237x19 anyone? lol)
Tried 2 sticks of RAM so I could clock higher... dual channel loses almost 2 seconds. Tried disabling link fast QPI mode (supposed to drop it to 12X multi??) nope lost 4 seconds.
I am going to run pifast a couple more times tonight, and then call it quits... and see if I can break 1.40 on superpi.
I have tweaked pifast before, but I either maxed my tweaks already or am missing something obvious.

Yes, pifast is indeed an ugly wench... I found that most of the tweaks for Spi hurt pifast... ram helps, but it has to be an almost absolutely perfect balance of timings, including those retarded no-name subtimings..

Interesting...
I managed to knock a full .1 second off my initial pifast run, but no more than that. Think I will be cracking 1.40 8M tomorrow night when I get home... played around with wazza last night till about 4AM, needs 3-4 transfers of 4.5GB to make it effective. I found though, that hitting run 3-4 times on spitweaker and then cancelling it out does the same thing. So hopefully can save my SSDs :)
managed to pull high 1.40.xxx with only 3.4GHz uncore last night. Hoping the 4.2+ wazza will help me break it.
Only one thing left to try and I do not think that it will make 2+ seconds differnce.

1.74 - I have noticed it takes a lot more vcore/vtt for me to boot into XP than most others...could that be a sign of a psu losing it's mojo? I just find it odd that I am having the same problem with other mb's and chips as well. :Dizzy:

nice you have good sticks, thats not too much volts for ram :) if its doing the same thing with different chips and boards it must to be the chips or boards  psu and ram are the only possibilities really.

MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-H55N-USB3
RAM - Super Talent 2133 cas 8
BIOS - The Latest & Greatest
Gigabyte's website shows RAM being supported up to 2400 but not by Super Talent. This is the 1st time I have ever experienced anything like this. Usually when I run into RAM problems I get the dreaded beeps. Dunno if that applies to non compatible RAM.

Are you watching the mem usage in task manager?
If you were doing the same in spitweaker and getting up to 530MB syscache and 150KB superpi... It should have little effect on performance.
dunno why, but on my machine I have to cnp 6GB from D to C then to E to get it up there....
And it seems to be even FASTER on spitweaker when i do it, I just hit run 3 times real quick... then cancel it out when the mem usage drops (about 5-10 seconds)

SSDs make the differnce in the time it takes to copy waza. The idea behind copy waza (copy technique) is that you do not access the HDD for the bench. So no... SSDs do not make a differnce except in the time it takes to prep for superpi.
Waza makes 0 to -15% differnce in pifast when i tried it....(IE actually caused it to slow down a few times for me. But I did not try it alot.)

Well SSDs are just faster but I can't generally say every bench will be faster since I didn't tested it. What I can say is that I tested my Intel X25-E drive vs. my WD Raptor 10K drive running SPI1M and the SSD was always faster.
Also my game plan of using the Maximus P55 board for some PiFast action is pretty much dead. I can't boot any ram in the first channel. I think it needs to go home back to mama for a RMA. :D ;)

"What is your problem exactly? What mobo?
i have the GA-EX58-EXTREME board, and i just can't get the clock gen or setfsb to work with it... idk why, like i can try use every one of them on the drop down list and nothing happens...
but when i had my GA-EX58-UD4P clockgen works great with it, at the time i only had a older cra:Ded version of setfsb so it didn't really work...
but now for real tho..
is overclocking from bios better or clocking for a software like this the way to go?
btw wht is clockgen now updating anymore?
like the last update was like YEARS AGO! :Dizzy: such good software tho!

Never mind the pics, got one in bmp again and it's 5 megs. Scores were

no tweaks on the super pi, or the pi fast eigher cause I still can't figure out how to load the wazza (or even where to find it !!!!)

So far the new ram is discouraging. Initial test at default would not let me open cpu-tweaker...gave error "must have dimm in slot A". Ran the bench anyway and scored this.
Lowered timings to 7-7-7-20 and re-seated ram...cpu-tweaker worked this time.
It will not run the bench without errors tho... (Maybe try 2:8 instead of 2:10 ?)
